SBS 'Would You Merry Me' Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min's spectacular first meeting is captured in the first teaser, raising expectations.
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama Would You Merry Me, which premieres Oct. 10 (Fri) (directed by Song Hyun-wook, Hwang In-hyuk / written by Lee Ha-na / produced by Samhwa Networks, Studio S), is a sweet-and-deadly 90-day fake marriage about a man and woman trying to win a luxury newlywed home prize, and is expected to showcase solid acting synergy when the trustworthy actor Choi Woo-shik (as Kim Woo-joo) and rom-com queen Jung So-min (as Yoo Merry) meet.
Choi Woo-shik plays Kim Woo-joo, the sole heir of the fourth generation of Korea's first bakery Myeongsun-dang and its flawless successor, and is set to show an acting transformation never seen before. Jung So-min plays Yoo Merry, the CEO of Merry Design and a bride-to-be on the brink after being dumped and scammed out of a newlywed rental home, and is expected to deliver the essence of lovely rom-com acting.
Meanwhile, on the 11th (Thu) the Would You Merry Me side released the first teaser preview video capturing the spectacular meeting that led Kim Woo-joo (played by Choi Woo-shik) and Yoo Merry (played by Jung So-min) to become a fake couple, piquing curiosity. The preview opens wide with Merry's "human cider" persona who speaks up even during a presentation. Then, after learning of her fiancé's (played by Seo Beom-jun) affair and enraged, Merry, drunk, meets Woo-joo—a bread-knife-turned-rich person with the same name as her ex-fiancé—as if by fate, drawing attention.
Following Merry's absurd proposal, "Will you be my husband?", wedding photos of Woo-joo and Merry are revealed, sparking excitement for the fake-couple life that will unfold. In a tuxedo, Woo-joo wraps his arm around Merry's waist, and in a wedding dress, Merry leans on Woo-joo's shoulder, boasting a perfect chemistry that rivals that of a real newlywed couple and amplifying the excitement. Also, contrary to her words "We'll do it without anyone knowing," Woo-joo and Merry must act like a sweet newlywed couple with affectionate touches at all times, making hearts race amid the tension.
Above all, Woo-joo and Merry's act as a married couple explodes with sweet, thrilling chemistry. To avoid revealing their fake marriage, Woo-joo gently tucks Merry's hair behind her ear, and Merry automatically smiles, showcasing the flawless "fake couple" chemistry of instantly reading each other. Such spectacular fake newlywed moments that cause hearts to skip a beat raise expectations for Woo-joo and Merry.
Meanwhile, Would You Merry Me, which will capture Woo-joo and Merry's sweet and chewy chemistry, is scheduled to premiere on SBS at 9:50 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.
