"Let's go to the moon" Lee Seon-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo Ah-ram and Kim Young-dae draw attention for their distinctively quirky narratives.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama Let's Go to the Moon, which premieres on the 19th (written by Na Yoon-chae, directed by Oh Da-young and Jung Hoon), depicts a hyperrealism survival story about three women from poor backgrounds who must invest in cryptocurrencies because their salaries alone are not enough to survive. The unique subject matter and the actors' synergy are expected to add fresh energy to home audiences.
Meanwhile, on the 10th, character teaser videos for the four protagonists of Let's Go to the Moon—Jung Da-hae (played by Lee Seon-bin), Kang Eun-sang (played by Ra Mi-ran), Kim Ji-song (played by Jo Ah-ram) and Dr. Ham (played by Kim Young-dae)—were released. This teaser, which condenses each character's backstory, tells the story of the three "ordinary" women Da-hae, Eun-sang and Ji-song who had no choice but to board the "coin train." It also reveals the identity of the "dream" that Dr. Ham longs for more than money, already drawing viewers into the drama's narrative.
Da-hae's teaser opens with the modest wish "I want to live uneventfully and smoothly," which strikes a chord. Even as she quietly focuses on her work in a gritty daily life, all she gets in return is her boss's subtle sneer, "doing all kinds of things." Unable to back down any longer, Da-hae boards the "secret trump" coin train, saying, "I'm going to try. I'll go as far as money can take me. I won't stop!" Her cry of "life is unpredictable" mixes wit and hope and makes viewers root for her future.
Eun-sang's character teaser shows her deep friendship with Da-hae and Ji-song, creating a touching moment. Eun-sang's frugality, collecting even 500 won without fail, prompts Da-hae and Ji-song to grumble, "stingy pants! big coward!" But Eun-sang is busy repeatedly urging her younger friends to board the coin train with her. Her sincere words, "I don't think I can watch you collapse. I'll go with you to the end," are revealed. Eun-sang's offhand remark raises anticipation for the trio's special "womance" in Let's Go to the Moon.
Ji-song, the carefree "poster child of YOLO" who is delighted even by a new pair of shoes, brings laughter with her innocent everyday life. She habitually says "I'm sorry" to her boss's scolding and often gets through crises with an adorable tone. When Ji-song feels an increasing sense of danger after Eun-sang and even Da-hae are tempted onto the coin train, she asks, "What if it's more hellish there than here?" At that moment, Da-hae's bittersweet remark, "What hell is worse than the reality we live in?" captures Ji-song's heart. After wavering, Ji-song finally boards the coin train, and all eyes are on what kind of tomorrow awaits someone who used to live for today only.
Dr. Ham, known as "the legend of Maron Bakery" for making every idea a huge hit, surprises viewers with an unexpected twist in his character teaser. Contrary to the assumption that he followed only an elite path, Dr. Ham's hidden past was as a "singer." When he meets Da-hae, who still remembers and likes the songs he wrote, he quietly begins to dream of the stage again, saying, "If it's that much, isn't it worth getting hurt and trying again?" The moment he resurrects a forgotten dream adds excitement about how Dr. Ham and Da-hae's story will unfold.
Let's Go to the Moon is scheduled to premiere on the 19th at 9:50 p.m.
