Lee Young-ae, Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo are swept up in a vast whirlpool of fate.
The new KBS 2TV weekend miniseries Walking On Thin Ice (directed by Song Hyun-wook, written by Jeon Young-shin), scheduled to premiere on the 20th, released its full teaser today (9th), raising anticipation among prospective viewers to a fever pitch.
The teaser begins with Eunsu (played by Lee Young-ae) lamenting, "Won't a bag of money fall from the sky somewhere?" The ordinary wish that anyone might have once held elicits sympathy from viewers. Facing the cost of treatment for a husband given a terminal diagnosis and a collapsing household, Eunsu, who felt she had no choice but to take an extreme step, says, "I'll do anything. If it's for my family," and steps overnight into a forbidden world. At the same time, popular after-school art teacher Lee Kyung (played by Kim Young-kwang) delivers a twist, foreshadowing a precarious business partnership with Eunsu.
Meanwhile, the relentless investigation by Jang Tae-gu (played by Park Yong-woo), head of the narcotics investigation team at Gwangnam Police Station, who bursts into Club Medusa saying, "Only the guy who brought the drugs that day needs to know," intersects with scenes of pursuit and action surrounding the enigmatic club MD James, amplifying the tension. Unlike the trembling Eunsu, Lee Kyung's unruffled demeanor heightens curiosity about the two characters' secret relationship and their future choices.
The production team said, "The full teaser powerfully shows how a 'drug bag' that falls into the everyday life of ordinary housewife Eunsu shakes her life and the lives of those around her. Walking On Thin Ice is not just a simple crime story; by following the protagonists' choices, it makes viewers think, 'What would I have done?'" they added, "Please look forward to Lee Young-ae's daring acting transformation and the intense performances showcasing the fighting spirit of actors Kim Young-kwang and Park Yong-woo."
