Actor Kim Mi-kyung shared her thoughts on the finale of "First, for the sake of love."
In tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama "First, for the sake of love," Kim Mi-kyung played Jeong Moon-hee, a former hospital professor who retired, and filled the drama's mood with a warm yet realistic presence.
As the finale approached, Kim Mi-kyung said, "A drama in which characters with wounds so deep they may never be experienced in a lifetime gather and give each other healing and hope, "First, for the sake of love." I was grateful to be able to share this story."
She added, "I, too, played Moon-hee, a pitiable character with a great wound, but as a viewer I resented how quickly the weekly broadcast time passed and watched every episode without missing a single cut or line," and "I am thankful to everyone who created this story and honored to have participated. I also thank the viewers who watched until the end."
In the drama, Moon-hee provided stability with her doctorlike attention to Hyori (played by Choi Yoon-ji)'s health while revealing loss and emptiness as she faced the belongings of the daughter who left first, moving viewers' hearts.
Even when delirium made her memory fade, she offered comforting touches beside Hyori and Jian (played by Yum Jung-ah), conveying the message that they must live for today, and before Hyori's surgery, when Jian wavered, she became a solid support by saying, "Hyori's mother has me."
She also showed a friendly charm through pleasant chemistry with the villagers. Moon-hee's steady strength and warmth in every moment increased immersion in the drama as the episodes progressed.
Kim Mi-kyung will meet viewers again in MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama "Let's go to the moon." Having delivered a deep resonance through "First, for the sake of love," she will take on the role of Lee Jeong-im, a hardy village bus driver, in her next work, showing a different side of herself.
Meanwhile, the final episode of tvN's "First, for the sake of love," featuring Kim Mi-kyung, will air today (9th) at 8:50 p.m., and MBC's "Let's go to the moon" will premiere on the 19th at 9:50 p.m.
