The OST "Golden" from the Netflix animated series K-pop Demon Hunters (Kedeheon) topped the U.S. Billboard main singles chart Hot 100 for the third straight week and the fourth time overall. Surpassing BTS's "Dynamite" (three weeks), it is vying for the second-longest No. 1 run in K-pop history after "Butter" (10 weeks).
Billboard said on the 8th (local time) that "Golden" secured the top spot over Alex Warren's "Ordinary" and Sabrina Carpenter's new single "Tears." "Golden" entered at No. 81 and steadily climbed to reach No. 1. It has since stayed on the chart for 11 consecutive weeks, logging four turns at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
In this week's tally, "Golden" recorded 34.5 million streams (down 2% from the previous week), 22.1 million in radio audience impressions (up 13%), and 9,000 in sales (up 4%). Billboard noted that "Golden" ranked No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart for seven straight weeks, Radio Songs No. 24 (from No. 29), and Digital Song Sales No. 1 for two consecutive weeks, adding that the track is expanding beyond its fandom into the mainstream.
The "Golden" craze is spreading across the OST. "Your Idol" placed No. 4, "Soda Pop" No. 5, and "How It's Done" No. 9, putting four soundtrack cuts in the top 10. Billboard evaluated that in the 67-year history of the Hot 100, it is the first time a single OST has placed four songs in the top 10 simultaneously, and credited "Kedeheon."
The Kedeheon OST's performance underscores the global momentum of K-pop once again. Analysts say that the power of the existing fandom, combined with radio and streaming metrics, is boosting the likelihood of a prolonged reign. After BTS, on Billboard charts that had centered on K-pop artists, the rise of an OST soundtrack as the main stage is also seen as a meaningful shift.
