The group Wonder Girls recently announced a reunion, delighting fans, but Sunmi's absence from the photo left fans disappointed. Sunmi drew attention by offering an explanation.
On the 9th, Sunmi appeared on the Salon Drip 2 YouTube channel in an episode titled "Not born single, but I want to date."
On the same day, Woo Hye-rim posted on her SNS, "Thank you, Wonder aunts," and released a group photo with the members. The photo showed leader Sunye along with Yubin and Sohee, showcasing their enduring loyalty. Woo Hye-rim's son also drew laughs as he received the members' affection. In particular, Sohee wearing a baby carrier and holding the child stirred fans' nostalgia.
But when Sunmi was missing from the group photo, fans wondered, "Why can't we see Sunmi?" In response, Sunmi said on Yubin's YouTube channel that she "couldn't attend because of a schedule" and added, "To be honest, seeing the complete-group photo used as the thumbnail made me think, 'My spot was there.' The aura when everyone gathers is different," revealing her feelings.
Meanwhile, Sunmi emphasized on the Salon Drip 2 broadcast that she still has a close relationship with the Wonder Girls members. She recalled, "When we all gathered, we'd always start by talking about the U.S.," reminiscing about the difficult time trying to enter the U.S. market. She added, "I still vividly remember Park Jin-Young personally handing out promotional booklets," and said, "Looking back now, it was truly a youthful challenge."
In particular, Sunmi said that the foot injury caused by Wonder Girls activities left her with chronic ankle pain from dancing in heels, but "it's like a badge of honor to me." She expressed heartfelt thanks to fans, saying, "My youth was the fans. Because the fans watched over my youth."
She even revealed the story of a couple among the fans who got married. Sunmi said, "They were fans I met while doing public broadcasts since the Wonder Girls days, and one day I was shocked to hear they were getting married. I couldn't not go, so I sang a celebratory song myself. In their newlywed home, there was a separate room for my fandom. It was so cute," bringing smiles.
