Rosé of BLACKPINK made history in K-pop by winning two awards at the American music award ceremony 'MTV Video Music Awards.'
Rosé won the 'Song of the Year' and 'Best Group' awards with her duet 'APT.' in collaboration with Bruno Mars at the '2025 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA)' held on the 7th (local time) at the UBS Arena in New York, USA, achieving her two wins.
Rosé is the first K-pop artist to receive an award in the major categories at the VMA, including 'Song of the Year.' In particular, after winning 'Best Group' with BLACKPINK in 2023, Rosé has now achieved the honor of her second award alongside Bruno Mars in 'Best Group.'
Rosé said, 'I can't believe it. I'm really grateful to Bruno Mars for believing in me and helping me first.' She added, 'I dedicate this trophy to the 16-year-old me who chased my dreams. I'm happy to receive this award as a moment of reward for my efforts.'
Following that, Rosé said, 'Teddy oppa, I won an award. BLACKPINK members, I won an award. I'm always grateful and love you,' referencing the producer and her members from Korea.
Following Rosé, Lisa won in the 'Best K-Pop' category. With this, BLACKPINK took home three trophies at the '2025 MTV VMA.'
The global girl group CATSAI from HYBE won 'Push Performance of the Year' with 'Touch' and showcased their performances of 'Gnarly' and 'Gabriela' at the pre-show stage. CATSAI expressed, 'This moment feels really new as it's our first time experiencing this. After going through a lot, this moment feels like a great reward. Thank you so much.'
Meanwhile, the top award of the year, 'Video of the Year,' was won by pop star Ariana Grande with 'brighter days ahead.' Lady Gaga won four trophies, including 'Artist of the Year' and 'Best Collaboration,' becoming the most-awarded artist.
