With 1.45 million subscribers, YouTuber Daedoseogwan has passed away, and condolences from colleagues and fans are pouring in.
On the 6th, according to the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station, the police and fire authorities dispatched to Daedoseogwan's house in Gwangjin District at around 8:40 a.m. after receiving a report from an acquaintance that Daedoseogwan had not shown up for an appointment and could not be reached; however, he was found dead.
No suicide note or signs of homicide were discovered at the scene, and the police plan to investigate whether Daedoseogwan had any underlying health conditions among various possibilities.
Colleagues mourned the news of Daedoseogwan's passing. YouTuber Gomong expressed his condolences on his social media, saying, "I pray for the repose of Daedoseogwan's soul," adding, "He was a source of strength when I felt lonely, and Daedoseogwan was pivotal in my life-changing experience of starting on YouTube."
Gomong continued, "When I heard that I had collapsed, he provided lengthy health advice, and he was always full of energy and confidence, often taking me to movie premieres; he was a big brother among YouTubers, and it feels so early for him to go," noting, "He used to say that it was physically demanding to go live and that he didn't have time; it's so sudden. I hope he finds peace there."
Comedian Kim Dae-beom also reminisced about Daedoseogwan on his channel, stating, "This is such shocking news. It's truly frustrating. As Korea's top YouTuber, he was a very kind and polite person. He never flaunted his number of subscribers and was someone who was genuinely great at helping novice YouTubers. Many comedians received his help when starting on YouTube."
Kim Dae-beom added, "Why did Daedoseogwan, who brought health and cheer, have to go to heaven so soon?? It's too fast. Why do we have to see this news?" He continued, "I hope Daedoseogwan rests comfortably. Please create more meaningful content over there. May he rest in peace."
Fans shocked by the sudden news are also expressing their condolences. They commented on Daedoseogwan's social media channels, saying, "I offer my condolences to the deceased," "I've been a fan for over 10 years, and it's incredibly sad," "Thank you for taking care of my teenage years."
