Actress Kim Bo-ra announced a stable first start through "The Mantis: Original Sin."
The drama, which first aired on SBS on 5th, is a high-density crime thriller that occurs after more than 20 years since the brutal serial killer "The Mantis" was caught, when copycat crimes arise. To solve the case, a detective develops an unexpected cooperative investigation with her mother, who is "The Mantis," whom he has hated his entire life.
In the drama, Kim Bo-ra plays the role of Lee Jung-yeon, the caring wife of Cha Soo-yeol (played by Jang Dong-yoon). Jung-yeon is a character who embraces her husband's wounds with a kind and warm heart, always understanding Soo-yeol and becoming a healing presence for him. In her first appearance, Jung-yeon has to confront her mother for the investigation, but she becomes a comfort to Soo-yeol, who has complicated feelings he cannot tell anyone.
Moreover, she shows consideration for Soo-yeol, who loves children but does not talk about his memories with his parents, being careful in creating a new family and revealing heartfelt concern.
In this way, Kim Bo-ra portrayed Jung-yeon with calm yet powerful acting. Additionally, she showcased a calm yet tender chemistry with Jang Dong-yoon, enhancing immersion as an understanding couple.
Having shown a wide spectrum of characters through various works, Kim Bo-ra shone with her delicate emotional acting and naturally depicted the subtle inner changes of her character in this work as well. As a result, curiosity about the development of the story and Jung-yeon's upcoming narrative is increasing.
Meanwhile, Kim Bo-ra previously attracted attention by announcing her divorce just 11 months after marrying director Jo Ba-reun. "The Mantis" is the first work Kim Bo-ra returns to after her divorce.
