Actor Jin Tae-hyun successfully completed a marathon with his wife, Park Si-eun, 76 days after thyroid cancer surgery.
On the 7th, Jin Tae-hyun said on his social account, "Today, I went to a running competition with my wife. It was my wife's 10K; I ran a half marathon, the first competition of the second half of the year. My wife finished in 55 minutes, 6 minutes later than her original 10K record, and I finished in 1 hour and 53 minutes, 20 minutes later than my original half marathon record."
Jin Tae-hyun stated, "On June 24, 76 days after thyroid cancer surgery, I ran hard to reaffirm my commitment to not give up on my dreams. First of all, I want to show my beloved wife a healthy husband because I need to protect her for about 50 years. I also prayed that my daughter Yang Ji-hye, an elite marathoner who went for the second training camp in Gangwon Province, would overcome any challenges that come her way during the national sports competition race. Moreover, I prayed that athletes Choi Kyung-seon and Lim Ye-jin, who are participating in the World Championship Marathon, complete their races splendidly."
He continued, "After running a long distance for the first time in a while, my head is a bit fuzzy from the hot weather, but this is all part of training. I'm really looking forward to the spring season of 2026. Everyone, I am originally a person who does not know how to give up. Even if my situation and circumstances feel unfair, depressed, or exhausting, it is all a shadow I have lived through, and I will take responsibility and overcome them. I must protect my beloved wife for a lifetime. That's why I run. I pray that those of you reading this who are struggling, feeling down, or experiencing deep pain persevere and overcome. The world won't recognize us anyway. Therefore, we have no choice but to break through. I encourage everyone to look up at the sky and take another step forward."
Jin Tae-hyun said, "I will start recovery jogging again from tomorrow. I have to do it because I have a goal. But I am not afraid of failure, as humans must fail to become more humble and stronger. When I arrived home, I saw a clear sky and felt something calming down a little. Let's all gather our strength through focused breathing. And let's not give up."
