YouTuber Yumdaeng is suffering from malicious comments after the death of her ex-husband, Daedoseogwan. Although it has been three years since the couple divorced, some netizens are blaming Yumdaeng and leaving negative comments following Daedoseogwan's death.
According to the Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul on the 6th, the police and fire authorities were alerted by a friend reporting that Daedoseogwan did not show up at the meeting time and could not be reached, and they responded to Daedoseogwan's residence in Gwangjin-gu at around 8:40 a.m., but he was found deceased. It has been reported that no suicide note or signs of foul play were discovered at the scene.
Daedoseogwan married Yumdaeng in 2015. At that time, Yumdaeng had a son from a previous marriage, and Daedoseogwan, being his first marriage, fully accepted her son as part of the family.
However, they divorced by mutual consent in July 2023. At that time, Daedoseogwan announced the divorce news while doing a live broadcast with Yumdaeng.
Daedoseogwan explained, "It's not that we're separating for bad reasons. As we've lived together, we've wanted to focus more on our work, and originally we might get along better as friends, but living as a family has led to some conflicts. As those issues piled up, we thought it might be better to live freely and that it would be much better for us to stay friends, so we got divorced."
He added, "Yumdaeng has moved, but we meet once a week and often keep in touch. In fact, since the decision to divorce, we've become much closer. By letting go of the burdens of being family, we are currently in a much friendlier state like that of friends. We meet once a week and hang out, so it's a good breakup. As for asset division, we agreed to each take what we earned separately. There's nothing more to give each other. Instead, if there's anything we can help each other with in the future, we will help and do what we need. We're getting along well like friends."
Yumdaeng also stated, "After sorting out the marriage, the emotional distance between us disappeared. I no longer have any feelings of dislike, and any disappointments or sorrows are gone, and we can now eat together comfortably and laugh when we meet. I thought I should clarify this, and I felt it would be better to talk about it together rather than separately, so I came as a guest to talk about it."
After their divorce, Daedoseogwan and Yumdaeng revealed that their relationship became better than when they were married and received support from fans. However, after the news of Daedoseogwan's death broke, some netizens visited Yumdaeng's social media and YouTube to leave malicious comments.
The trolls are leaving crossing-the-line malicious comments towards Yumdaeng, making viewers frown. Fans are urging her to "sue the trolls" and expressing support for Yumdaeng. The public is also raising concerns, stating that "criticizing the deceased in connection with unrelated personal matters is secondary harm."
