Singer Kim Jung-min and his wife Rumiko's harmonious daily life has been revealed.
On the 4th, the first broadcast of tvN STORY 'Each House Couple' featured Kim Jung-min and Rumiko, who have been married for 20 years and have lived apart for 2 years. The age difference between the couple is 11 years, prompting the panelists to joke, "Don't they use the word thief in Japanese?" Then, Ryu Seung-soo said, "I also have an 11-year age difference," and Kim Jung-min added, "Then our father-in-law is the same. There's a significant age gap."
Kim Jung-min met Rumiko through singer Park Hye-kyung. He did not realize it was a blind date at the time. Kim Jung-min said, "Park Hye-kyung asked me if I wanted to meet a friend from Japan six months ago, and I remembered that and met her. I waited for 3 hours to meet her," recalling Rumiko's appearance when she spontaneously came out after suggesting to eat instead of grocery shopping.
Rumiko stated, "I never thought of it as a blind date," and added, "I went grocery shopping, and Park Hye-kyung asked me to go eat. I didn't even do my makeup," confirming that it was the same for her.
The two began dating and left for a trip just two days after meeting, later receiving permission for their relationship and marriage from Rumiko's father in Japan. Following the ceremony organized by Yoo Jae-seok, the couple had three sons.
They are currently living as a couple apart. Kim Jung-min remarked, "This is not the married life I dreamed of. I never imagined being a couple apart," expressing some bitterness. Rumiko explained, "Our first son and second son are good at soccer and ended up playing in Japan. That's how our life apart began."
The eldest, Taeyang, and the second son, Doyun, were part of Japan's youth soccer team. Rumiko's daily life, managing her sons and riding, was hectic. Kim Jung-min woke up in the morning, cleaned, worked out diligently, and sent messages to his family during the gaps, but replies did not come easily. Unfortunately, that day was when Doyun had a match.
Kim Jung-min watched his son's match via video call. However, the couple quickly checked on Doyun's condition. Doyun had to exit the game just 5 minutes in due to heat exhaustion. Kim Jung-min shared, "I get surprised when I receive contact from Rumiko. During our married life, I wanted to rush over, but not knowing how badly he was hurt made me anxious."
Rumiko, who is somewhat strict, prepared nourishing food for her sons. The second son, Doyun, helped his mother cook, while the eldest, Taeyang, took on the responsibility of educating the youngest, Dam-yul. Kim Jung-min expressed, "No matter how delicious the meal is, eating alone doesn't feel tasty. No matter how much I eat, I'm just eating to survive. Still, I have to put in the effort to make it taste good, so I eat like that," depicting his lonely meal, while the family gathered to eat together. Even so, they kept mentioning Kim Jung-min, making sure not to forget their father.
The eldest and second sons said, "We could come to Japan thanks to Dad," and "We can be here thanks to Dad," then immediately video-called their father. Kim Jung-min noted, "There's something about feeling the importance of family. I am also grateful to my kids," expressing his gratitude to his wife, and Rumiko responded, "I love you."
