Singer Cho-a, formerly of the girl group Crayon Pop, announced the news of her twin pregnancy after battling cervical cancer.
On the 5th, Cho-a shared on social media (SNS), "Finally, a precious life we have longed for has come to us," announcing that she is 10 weeks pregnant. The birth is expected in March of next year.
She noted, "Due to the absence of the cervix and the risk of preterm birth, only one embryo was implanted, but it naturally divided, resulting in twins with a 1% chance," adding, "I was very worried at first, but now I just want to give birth healthily."
She received a cervical cancer diagnosis two years ago. Although she was told at several university hospitals that "pregnancy would be difficult," she completed treatment through a surgery that preserved her fertility. Since then, she attempted natural pregnancies several times and also challenged in vitro procedures, successfully becoming pregnant on her first try.
Cho-a expressed, "I want to show hope until the end," sending support to couples dealing with infertility.
Earlier, Cho-a publicly disclosed her battle last year, stating, "I was diagnosed with cancer at the hospital during a prenatal check-up, but the tumor was small at the time of surgery, and miraculously, I was able to preserve my fertility."
Cho-a debuted in 2012 with Crayon Pop and married a businessman who is six years older than her in 2021.
