On the 5th, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin' (hereinafter 'The Mantis') depicted the reunion between Jeong Yi-shin (played by Go Hyun-jung) and Cha Su-yeol (played by Jang Dong-yoon) after 23 years.
On this day, Choi Jung-ho (played by Jo Sung-ha) visited Cha Su-yeol, the son of the cruel serial killer Jeong Yi-shin, who was arrested 23 years ago, regarding the same murder case.
Choi Jung-ho said, "Jeong Yi-shin has agreed to help with this case. However, he wants to speak only through you," and requested cooperation. Despite Cha Su-yeol's anger, Choi Jung-ho persuaded him, saying, "If we don't catch him now, more victims will continue to emerge. We need to act before something happens."
Eventually, Cha Su-yeol reunited with his mother Jeong Yi-shin after 23 years. When she said, "It's Jeong-ho," Cha Su-yeol responded, "I am Sergeant Cha Su-yeol of the Violent Crimes Investigation Team," drawing a line. Jeong Yi-shin then asked, "So, have you married? I see a ring mark. Do you have children?"
Cha Su-yeol replied, "Let's skip the family chat. I'm not here for a family reunion. Have you seen the file?" Jeong Yi-shin explained, "I probably tried quite hard to do it the same way. Meanwhile, Choi Jung-ho and Cha Su-yeol took Jeong Yi-shin to the scene as she requested. Jeong Yi-shin smiled while recalling her past crimes at the crime scene. She said, "I could have cut the neck in one go, but I intentionally didn't. I felt like I was tearing this away, hanging by a thread."
She continued, "If the criminal wanted to mimic the case from 23 years ago, what did they mimic? It must be the content and photos reported in the media. There was only one newspaper that published the crime scene photos." When Cha Su-yeol urged her, Jeong Yi-shin added, "That's something the police should figure out; I'm a criminal.
