Broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu has left a thought-provoking post and remains silent, raising concerns among fans.
On 4th, Jang Seong-kyu posted a photo with a black background on his social media, along with a short message that says, 'Seong-kyu, don't forget today 20250904.' Fans expressed their worries, asking, 'Is something wrong?' and 'Are you okay?'
Some netizens speculated about the background of Jang Seong-kyu's remarks, mentioning the first anniversary of the late Oh Yeo-anna, who passed away on September 15 last year. They indicated that the timing coincided with the upcoming anniversary, prompting various speculations about the context of his statements.
Oh Yeo-anna worked as an MBC weathercaster from 2021 until her passing on September 15, 2023. Her family revealed that she struggled with workplace bullying, underwent psychiatric counseling at over ten facilities, and left behind 17 suicide notes. This incident caused a significant uproar when the real names of some weathercasters accused of bullying were disclosed at the time.
As Jang Seong-kyu was implicated in the bullying incident leading to the death of the late Oh Yeo-anna, he wrote on his social media, 'I am sorry for only being able to mourn in my heart after finding out about the deceased's news too late last December. Although it's late, I hope the injustice of the deceased is resolved, that they find peace there, and that the family finds solace. If I can be of help in this, I will do my best.'
He continued, 'At first, I was upset when my name was mentioned due to inaccuracies, but I decided not to correct it, considering it was nothing compared to the pain of the deceased and the family. However, as more netizens began to interpret my silence as an acknowledgment, negative comments started flooding my social media.'
Absurd claims have emerged alleging that Jang Seong-kyu, who had relationships with the weathercasters known to have bullied Oh Yeo-anna, had facilitated her suicide.
Even the Garosero Research Institute's YouTube channel stated, 'Mr. Jang Seong-kyu, don't you have even a shred of guilt? Your behavior of telling your seniors about the difficult situations that Oh Yeo-anna shared with you is truly pathetic.' They urged him to 'immediately go apologize to Oh Yeo-anna's family and reveal the crimes of those like MBC's Kim Ga-young weathercaster.'
As a result, Jang Seong-kyu was engulfed in even greater criticism. Negative comments directed at him, as well as indiscriminate criticism directed at his children, poured in. Jang Seong-kyu stated, 'I believe it is wrong to address my minor grievances before the injustice of the deceased is addressed. However, I humbly request that you refrain from negative comments about my family until everything is resolved.'
