On the 4th, Gil posted a photo on his social media with the caption, "It's been a while since I've traveled alone! Let's go! Bring it on, Shanghai!"
The posted photo showed Gil at the airport. It appeared that he was leaving for a trip to Shanghai, taking a selfie in front of the departure lounge. With his signature bald head and wearing a black baseball cap backward, he was also sporting sunglasses.
Gil was smiling, seemingly enjoying the long-awaited trip alone. His appearance, unchanged since his heyday, also drew attention.
As a member of Leessang and a guest on the MBC variety show 'Infinite Challenge,' Gil had been actively participating in entertainment. However, in June 2017, he faced criticism for driving under the influence, leading him to cease his broadcast activities. Given that he had produced numerous hit songs with Leessang and had received much love through 'Infinite Challenge,' public disappointment in Gil for his DUI incident was considerable.
After Gil suspended his activities, Leessang effectively began the process of disbandment. Earlier, in 2022, on the occasion of Leessang's 20th anniversary, Gil left a post saying, "I'm trying to start anything happily," but Gary officially announced the disbandment of Leessang.
Gil married his 10-year younger wife in 2016 and they welcomed a son, Ha-eum. He also launched the YouTube channel 'Shining Gil Seong-jun' last November.
