The current status of actor Yoo Ah-in (38), who was sentenced to a suspended prison term by the Supreme Court on drug use charges, has been revealed.
On the 3rd, DJ Peggy Goo posted on her Instagram story, "Fav director! Bong director, love you," along with a photo. In the photo, Director Bong Joon-ho is holding Peggy Goo's arm, while Yoo Ah-in is smiling broadly at the camera.
It has been two months since Yoo Ah-in was spotted outside of official schedules after the trial. Speculation has also emerged online about whether this is part of his comeback.
Yoo Ah-in was charged with using medical narcotics such as propofol 181 times under the guise of beauty treatments from September 2020 to March 2022, and illegally purchasing over 1,100 sleeping pills under another person's name from 2021 to 2023. In January 2022, he was also accused of smoking marijuana with an acquaintance in the United States and encouraging another acquaintance to smoke.
He was sentenced to one year in prison in the first trial in September last year and was taken into custody, but was released after receiving a reduced sentence of one year and two years of probation along with a fine of 2 million won in the appeal held five months later. The court considered his treatment for depression and sleep disorders and his remorseful attitude as mitigating factors. The Supreme Court confirmed the original decision in July.
After that, Yoo Ah-in suspended all activities. The films "Victory" and "High Five," which he had filmed before the controversy, were recently released.
