'BOYS II PLANET' has announced the results of the second survivor announcement ceremony, with only 24 participants moving one step closer to their debut dreams.
Mnet 'BOYS II PLANET' (BOYS II PLANET, directed by Kim Shin-young, Jung Woo-young, Ko Jeong-kyung) gathered a total of 14,608,719 votes from 222 countries and regions worldwide during the second global voting, proving the explosive participation of global star creators. Dramatic survivors emerged amid fierce ranking fluctuations, increasing the heat of the debut competition.
The reactions of star creators watching this were also fervent. On that day, the audience rating for women aged 10 to 20 ranked first in the same time slot including terrestrial broadcasts, and the OTT platform TVING also surpassed a real-time market share of 92%. Moreover, the number of viewers for the Mnet Plus live streaming, broadcasted worldwide, saw a staggering increase of nearly 162% compared to the previous week, while real-time view counts showed a remarkable increase of 40%.
The popularity could also be gauged on global SNS platforms. On X (formerly Twitter), 20 worldwide trends simultaneously made the ranking, and over 90 keywords dominated the top charts in 10 countries, including Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia, as well as Brazil, Puerto Rico, and France. Additionally, the Chinese representation on the SNS platform Weibo also proved its ongoing popularity by ranking in both the comprehensive chart and the entertainment and institutional sector categories.
In the 8th episode broadcast on the 4th, the second TOP 8 was also announced. Jo Wan-shin ranked second, gaining about 2 million points more than during the first survivor announcement. Lee Ri-o (3rd), Heo Sin-long (4th), Kim Gun-woo (5th), Jeong Sang-hyun (6th), Kim Jun-seo (7th), and Yu Kang-min (8th) followed, igniting the competition for debut spots. Above all, Lee Sang-won, the only participant to surpass 10 million points, solidified the title of 'irrefutable 1st,' demonstrating overwhelming support from global star creators.
A drama of rising rankings also unfolded. Kim Jun-min, who regained confidence and dominated the stage with the 'like JENNIE' team, rose 16 places to rank 11th, while Jeon Yi-jeong, who challenged the first rap position and created a benefit acquisition myth, ranked 12th, completing the growth drama. Park Jun-il, who showcased solid skills, leapt a remarkable 22 places to land in 13th, beginning a rapid ascent. Lizhao, who left the inspiring quote, 'I cannot give up earlier than my fans,' surprised everyone with a rise of 14 places. The last 24th position was dramatically secured by Park Dong-kyu after the live vote for the lowest survivor.
Along with this, the fourth global voting to determine the final stage participants has started. The fourth global voting will run until 10 a.m. on the 12th (Thursday) on the global K-POP platform Mnet Plus, where only 3 participants can be selected, promising fierce competition.
Also, ahead of the second survivor announcement ceremony that day, the lineup of participants for the new songs of the third mission 'Debut Concept Battle,' including 'Lucky MACHO,' 'Chains,' 'Sugar HIGH,' and 'MAIN DISH,' matched by star creators, was announced. However, one must be within the top 24 to be able to perform on stage. Nonetheless, the scene of participants comforting each other and dedicating themselves to practice, vowing that 'I will definitely take the stage' regardless of ranking, was deeply touching.
Meanwhile, in the 9th episode of Mnet 'BOYS II PLANET,' which will air at 9:20 p.m. on the 11th (Thursday), the 24 surviving participants will perform on the 'Debut Concept Battle' stage. With numerous team changes inevitable, curiosity grows about how the final team composition will turn out and who will ignite the hearts of the star creators.
