'Kedehun's global syndrome has been joined by tennis star Novak Djokovic with the 'Soda Pop' ceremony.
On the 3rd, a match was held between Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz in the men's singles quarterfinals at the 2025 US Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. Novak Djokovic defeated Taylor Fritz 3-1 to advance to the semifinals.
In particular, after Djokovic confirmed his victory, he shook hands with Taylor Fritz and then left a special ceremony. He raised his head with one hand clenched, displaying only his thumb and pinky while touching his lips, moving both shoulders up and down.
This followed the point choreography of the OST 'Soda Pop' from the Netflix animated movie 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' (directed by Maggie Kang, abbreviated as Kedehun). Novak Djokovic is usually known as a taciturn player. Although sudden, the cute ceremony captured the attention of tennis fans.
In a subsequent interview, Djokovic noted to foreign media, "The dance I did at the end is the choreography from the song in the movie 'Kedehun.' The song's title is 'Soda Pop' and it is very popular among teens and kids worldwide. My daughter taught me the dance, and I wanted to give her a gift for her upcoming 8th birthday. I hope she smiles brightly when she sees my score for the dance."
'Kedehun' is a story about a K-pop girl group called HuntRix that fights to save the world from evil spirits. The movie has been praised for its K-pop OSTs that seamlessly incorporate Korean culture, with the entire film being likened to a K-pop music video, leading to a global phenomenon.
In particular, the dance to 'Soda Pop' that Djokovic emulated, as well as various OSTs like 'Golden,' 'Your Idol,' and 'Take Down,' are sweeping the Billboard charts. Among them, 'Golden' has maintained its number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for three weeks.
Additionally, 'Kedehun' recorded a cumulative view count of 266 million as of the 3rd on Tudum, surpassing 'Squid Game' to become the most-watched content ever on Netflix, across films and series.
