In "Murderer Report," Jo Yeo-jeong revealed a humble mindset despite her outstanding acting skills.
On the morning of the 4th, an interview with lead actress Jo Yeo-jeong took place at a cafe in Sokgyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
"Murderer Report" (directed by Jo Young-jun, provided by A2Z Entertainment and Sony Pictures International Production, produced by With ACE Studio, MIKAE Studio, and Pluto Story Group, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment Korea and A2Z Entertainment) is a thriller that depicts the story of veteran reporter Sun-joo (played by Jo Yeo-jeong) who is eager for a scoop and receives an interview request from psychiatrist Yeong-hoon (played by Jeong Seong-il) confessing to a series of murders.
Jo Yeo-jeong delivered a passionate performance as the veteran reporter Baek Sun-joo, who desperately seeks a scoop. She participates in a dangerous interview after receiving a one-on-one interview proposal from serial killer Yeong-hoon. Previously, Jo Yeo-jeong starred as Jeong-hwan's first love, Yeon-hwa, in "My Daughter is a Zombie," which was released in July, attracting about 5.4 million viewers, and also showcased the "Soda Pop" challenge from Netflix's "K-Pop Demon Hunters" as a box office promise. Additionally, she has been cast in director Lee Chang-dong's new film "Possible Love" and has begun filming.
Due to the character's nature, Jo Yeo-jeong had significantly more lines, saying, "I think I had fewer [lines] than Jeong Seong-il oppa; it was not as hard as what oppa had to do, but I still had to comfort myself by saying, 'This is definitely not a problem.' (laughs) I kept thinking, 'This is not an issue at all.'" She added, "Actors are often afraid to express themselves. I was scared that my talent would be revealed, or that my limitations would show. I don't think there's any actor who would say, 'I have a lot of cards.' So, it was very scary."
She continued, "I struggled a lot when acting. Still, the reason I eventually chose this work is that I thought I would keep running away if I didn't face this challenge. I felt that if I couldn't try this time, it would be even scarier afterward. So, I just decided to give it a try." She stated, "Let's see if I can handle my skills as they are. If I'm lacking, let's just see how it goes."
When asked, "Are you satisfied with this challenge? Do you think you did well?" she replied, "I don't think I can grade it. Regardless of the outcome, I feel I did well from the perspective of trying to take a risk, of at least challenging myself. I faced it without avoiding it, so I completed it."
Meanwhile, "Murderer Report" is set to be released on the 5th.
