'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip-hop Princess' has teamed up with gold producers such as (G)I-DLE's So-yeon, Gaeko, Riehata, and Iwata Takenori.
'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip-hop Princess' (hereinafter 'Hip-hop Princess') is a Korea-Japan collaborative hip-hop girl group project newly presented by Mnet. Aiming for the birth of a new global hip-hop girl group, participants will participate directly in all processes such as music, choreography, styling, and video production, revealing their unique colors. In this process, they will create growth stories not only through competition but also collaboration.
In particular, as Korean and Japanese cultures collide and converge through hip-hop, participants will have the opportunity to create a new culture and grow as unique artists. To this end, a main producer lineup representing each field will join, and the production teams of 'Unpretty Rapstar' and 'Street Woman Fighter' will work together to create synergy.
First, So-yeon, the leader of (G)I-DLE, has been selected as the main producer and sole MC who will lead 'Hip-hop Princess.' So-yeon, who made a strong impression through Mnet's 'Unpretty Rapstar,' the first-ever survival program for female rappers in Korea, is returning as the MC of 'Hip-hop Princess,' which is being newly renewed for a global stage. Beyond just being a host, she will serve as a role model and a sincere mentor for the participants, guiding them to find their own identities.
Gaeko, an artist representing the hip-hop scene in Korea, has also confirmed his participation as a main producer, completing a lineup with musicality and popularity. Gaeko is a member of the hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, which has contributed significantly to the popularization of hip-hop in Korea by producing numerous hits. He has also shown a wide musical spectrum through collaborations with various artists. It will be interesting to see what raw talent he will discover.
In Japan, Riehata and Iwata Takenori have joined the main producer lineup. Riehata, a world-class choreographer and dancer who has worked with top artists both domestically and internationally, has recently appeared on Mnet's 'World of Street Woman Fighter,' leading the RHTokyo crew, and has displayed her unique directing skills, reaffirming her distinctive presence. This time, she will be sitting as a main producer of 'Hip-hop Princess,' where she will demonstrate keen dance judgment as well as exceptional insight in discovering the next generation of artists.
Moreover, Iwata Takenori, a member of the popular Japanese group J SOUL BROTHERS III (Sandaime J Soul Brothers) and an active solo artist, joins the lineup to attract attention. A multi-artist who has shown versatility by appearing in productions such as 'Our Perfect World' and the 'High & Low' series, Iwata Takenori is expected to drive the growth of participants as a main producer in 'Hip-hop Princess.'
The production team of 'Hip-hop Princess' stated, 'A top-tier producer lineup representing various fields has come together. We ask for much interest and anticipation for the activities of the four main producers who will lead the growth story we are about to write anew.'
The Korea-Japan collaborative survival 'Hip-hop Princess,' featuring participants with distinct identities related to hip-hop, K-POP, and J-POP, is set to premiere on Oct. 16 on Mnet and will be broadcast simultaneously in Japan through U-NEXT.
