After actress Lee Da-in targeted him over a photo posted by MC Mong, MC Mong also retaliated.
On the 3rd, MC Mong shared a photo on his personal SNS along with the caption 'Bam!!!' featuring Lee Seung-gi, Lee Da-in, Lee Da-in's sister Lee Yu-bi, and Cha Ga-won, the chairman of One Hundred.
MC Mong and Lee Seung-gi had previously collaborated on KBS2's '1 Night 2 Days.' After Lee Seung-gi went through a dispute with his agency, MC Mong signed an exclusive contract with One Hundred, where he was affiliated. It appeared that Lee Yu-bi arranged the meeting through her connection with Lee Da-in, while Chairman Cha Ga-won did so through his connection with the affiliated artist.
However, some raised eyebrows over whether the couple of Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in had indeed severed ties with their in-laws because of the photo.
As a result, on the morning of the 4th, she expressed her discomfort, asking, 'What is the reason for making a fuss by posting a photo from over a year ago?' Particularly, Lee Da-in said, 'I really cannot understand,' revealing the original photo along with the date of the shoot, July 18, 2024.
In response to Lee Da-in's anger, MC Mong zoomed in on her face in the photo he posted the day before, adding, 'Join in when you can!' He responded, saying, 'Whether I post a photo from a year ago or one I liked, before you become more hated, would you abandon your family like you?'
As the emotional fight between Lee Da-in and MC Mong continued due to the unexpected photo, netizens were also divided with reactions such as 'MC Mong was reckless,' 'You should get permission to post photos on SNS,' and 'They should have never matched in the first place.'
Meanwhile, on April, Lee Seung-gi stated through his agency, 'There have been ongoing legal issues raised against my father-in-law, and a fine was imposed in the appeal case, but I have recently been indicted by investigative authorities again due to similar illegal activities.'
He expressed, 'As someone who has been waiting for the result based on trust among family members, I cannot suppress my devastated feelings regarding my father-in-law's wrongful actions,' and noted, 'This incident has grievously damaged the trust within the family, and my wife and I have decided to sever ties with our in-laws after long contemplation.'
He also apologized for past statements. Lee Seung-gi remarked, 'I deeply reflect on my hastily made comments last year concerning my father-in-law without sufficient review,' adding, 'I believe appropriate punishment must be given for the illegal actions, and I sincerely apologize for the pain that my hasty judgment has caused to the victims.'
