Jo Yeo-jeong said she was surprised by the unexpected reactions after appearing on a YouTube variety show to promote the 'Murderer Report.'
On the morning of the 4th, an interview with Jo Yeo-jeong, the lead actress of 'Murderer Report,' was held at a cafe in Sokgyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Murderer Report' (directed by Jo Young-jun, provided by A2Z Entertainment and Sony Pictures International Productions, produced by With Ace Studio, MIKE Studio, and Pluto Story Group, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment Korea and A2Z Entertainment) tells the story of a veteran reporter, Sun-joo (played by Jo Yeo-jeong), who is desperate for a scoop and receives a request for an interview from a psychiatrist, Young-hoon (played by Jung Sung-il), who confesses to a series of murders.
Jo Yeo-jeong passionately portrayed the veteran reporter Baek Sun-joo, who is eager for an exclusive story. She is a character who participates in a dangerous interview after receiving a one-on-one interview proposal from the serial killer Young-hoon. Previously, Jo Yeo-jeong played the role of Jeong-hwan's first love, Yeong-hwa, in 'My Daughter is a Zombie,' which was released in July, attracting about 5.4 million viewers, and also showcased the 'Sodapop' challenge from the Netflix show 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' as part of her box office promise. Additionally, she has been cast in the new film 'Possible Love' directed by Lee Chang-dong and has begun filming.
Recently, Jo Yeo-jeong appeared on the YouTube channel 'Ppada Neoseu' with Jung Sung-il, stating, "Jung Sung-il oppa is a fan of that channel, and I went because I like actor Moon Sang-hun. Everything there is 100% scripted. I couldn't memorize the lines, so I acted while looking at the prompter, and it was chaotic. I didn't realize it was that funny while filming. After the video was uploaded, I thought, 'Was it that funny?' I felt like I was trying too hard."
She continued, "I usually don't look at comments, but I mustered the courage to check. It's the first time I've received so much praise for my acting since my debut. I can't watch comments because I'm scared, but people say I acted well, and they mention Cannes and Oscars. I thought, 'Am I really that good?' (laughs) I saw a comment saying, 'I can't tell if it's real or acting,' and that's the best compliment for an actor."
Jo Yeo-jeong also expressed her gratitude to the production team, saying, "I want to take this opportunity to thank the crew. They are comedy geniuses. Usually, sitcoms shape the characters well, and they did that. I'm really thankful that they created my character so well. Someone told me to put it in my filmography. To think I received such an unimaginable response, it seems like the film also got promoted. I am very grateful to the Ppada Neoseu channel," she smiled.
Meanwhile, 'Murderer Report' is set to open on the 5th.
