Jo Yeo-jung revealed the backstory of the 'Soda Pop' challenge, which she promised as a box office commitment.
On the morning of the 4th, an interview with Jo Yeo-jung, the lead actress of the film 'Murderer Report', was conducted at a cafe in Sokgyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The 'Murderer Report' (directed by Jo Young-jun, provided by A2Z Entertainment and Sony Pictures International Production, produced by With Ace Studio, MIKACE Studio, and Pluto Story Group, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment Korea and A2Z Entertainment) is a thriller that depicts the story of veteran reporter Sun-joo (played by Jo Yeo-jung) who desperately seeks scoops when a psychiatrist, Young-hoon (played by Jung Sung-il), requests an interview admitting to a series of murders.
Jo Yeo-jung passionately portrayed the veteran reporter Baek Sun-joo, who is eager for a scoop. She is a character who participates in a dangerous interview after receiving a one-on-one interview proposal from the serial killer Young-hoon. Previously, Jo Yeo-jung starred as Jeong-hwan's first love, Yeon-hwa, in 'My Daughter is a Zombie', which premiered in July and attracted an audience of approximately 5.4 million. She also showcased the 'Soda Pop' challenge from the Netflix series 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' as her box office commitment. Additionally, she was cast in the new film 'Possible Love' directed by Lee Chang-dong and has begun filming.
Regarding the success of 'My Daughter is a Zombie', Jo Yeo-jung said, "After filming the previous work 'Hidden Face', I shot this one the following year. Then I filmed 'Murderer Report' right after, followed by 'My Daughter is a Zombie.' Somehow, 'My Daughter is a Zombie' came out first, but I found it mentally challenging to shoot 'Hidden Face' and 'Murderer Report' back-to-back. However, I am grateful just to be making a film. I wondered, 'Can I handle something tough for a while?' and at that moment, 'My Daughter is a Zombie' came to me. It was a treasured work for me, and it allowed all the actors to breathe together."
'My Daughter is a Zombie', which was released in the summer box office, received attention by surpassing 5 million viewers this year, a notable achievement in the challenging Korean film industry. The lead actors also fulfilled a commitment for 3 million viewers by participating in the 'Soda Pop' challenge of 'K-Demon Hunters.'
He remarked, "It was somewhat of a group performance, but since everyone lacked time, each person practiced by watching videos. We matched the group choreography for 10 minutes before diving in, and it turned out well for that. I showed it to Producer Na Young-seok before filming, and at that moment, I felt, 'Actors inevitably have a strong presence.' When I say 'shoot', their eyes completely light up and they nail it. Everyone has that flair, which is why films like 'My Daughter is a Zombie' are made," he smiled.
He continued, "Looking at the comments, people wondered why we were working so hard on this. That was the funniest comment I read. The most amusing part was that no one seemed dissatisfied with their faces. I hope 'Murderer Report' does as well as 'My Daughter is a Zombie.' It's natural for me to wish for my own project to succeed. I have pride in the film, and I hope it will receive the attention it deserves based on its charm."
Meanwhile, 'Murderer Report' is set to be released on the 5th.
