The new challenge of Kian84, 'the icon of running,' begins.
On the 4th, MBC officially announced the launch of its new entertainment program, 'Extreme 84.'
'Extreme 84' is an ultra extreme running entertainment program that portrays Kian84's journey into an unimaginably intense marathon course exceeding 42.195 km, where he tests himself in extreme marathon environments and continues to challenge until the end. The program showcases the raw ends of human instincts and emotions, presenting a journey that is on a different dimension from existing marathon challenges.
'Extreme 84' is a franchise project that expands the rainbow universe of MBC's flagship entertainment show, 'Home Alone.' Notably, Park Soo-bin, who directed the 'Home Alone - Kian84 Race Day in New York' episode and movingly captured Kian84's marathon journey, will also lead the production this time, planning to depict an even more expansive challenge with a sense of presence.
Kian84's challenge began with the 2023 Cheongju full marathon. In 2024, he completed the New York Marathon, one of the seven major marathons in the world, with a time of 4 hours and 48 minutes. Now, he is thrown into a course beyond imagination, where endurance and survival instincts come into play in a transcendent race. There is keen interest in how far his limits will be revealed in such a harsh environment and what unexpected moments will unfold in the process.
This program is expected to showcase scenes never seen before on any broadcast. The extreme challenge of the marathon, unfamiliar landscapes from remote areas, and a reality that allows viewers to witness the limits of humanity all come together, offering a different immersion experience for the audience.
The production crew of 'Extreme 84' stated, 'We will depict the familiar challenge of marathon in Kian84's unique perspective and style, incorporating extreme narratives that have never been seen on any broadcast' and added, 'It will be a new dimension of entertainment where viewers can experience laughter, emotion, and the intrinsic survival instincts of humans.' The first broadcast is scheduled for November.
