Actor Jang Dong-yoon expressed his thoughts on his first challenge in criminal acting through "The Mantis: Original Sin."
On the afternoon of 4th, a production presentation for the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "The Mantis: Original Sin" took place. The presentation was attended by director Byeon Young-joo, actors Ko Hyun-jung, Jang Dong-yoon, Jo Seong-ha, and Lee El.
"The Mantis: Original Sin" is a high-density crime thriller in which, 20 years after the brutal serial killer "The Mantis" has been captured, a copycat crime occurs, and a detective, who has hated "The Mantis" (his mother) his entire life, unexpectedly collaborates to solve this case.
In the drama, Jang Dong-yoon plays Detective Cha Soo-yeol, who collaborates with his mother, a serial killer known as "The Mantis," whom he has hated his entire life. Notably, as Jang Dong-yoon is famous for catching a robber before his debut and being featured in the news, expectations for his criminal acting are high.
In response, Jang Dong-yoon said, "I have a detective-like temperament even in daily life. Some may call it meddling, but if there's an incident around me, I want to mediate and can't just let it go, so many people who know human Jang Dong-yoon have said it would be good for me to play a detective role."
He added, "I've never played a detective role before, so it was nice to do it this time. In any case, I think I can play similar roles after playing a detective once, so I acted happily." He mentioned, "'The Mantis' has heavy themes, so there's also a part that is somewhat challenging."
Meanwhile, "The Mantis: Original Sin" is set to premiere on the 5th at 9:50 p.m.
