Actor Lee Soo-hyuk is reported to have been overworked due to unreasonable demands from the organizers during a fan meeting in China, prompting his agency to belatedly release a statement. However, the anger of fans both in China and abroad remains palpable.
On the 3rd, Lee Soo-hyuk's agency, People Entertainment, posted an official apology on its official social media, saying, "First of all, we deeply appreciate the fans who showed interest in 'Lee Soo-hyuk 1st Fanmeeting in Hangzhou.'"
Previously, on the 30th of last month, the 'Lee Soo-hyuk 1st Fanmeeting in Hangzhou' held in Hangzhou, China sold out all tickets within just two minutes of the ticket sales starting, receiving explosive interest. However, reports indicated that due to excessive ticket sales by the organizers, Lee Soo-hyuk had to sign autographs for nearly 12 hours in front of thousands of fans. According to foreign media outlets such as Taiwan's EBC, the air conditioning at the venue broke down, leading the actor to sweat profusely while managing his schedule, and there were even reports that he staggered out with a pale face.
As the news broke, criticisms arose among fans, saying, "The artist was overworked." Photos of Lee Soo-hyuk appearing exhausted circulated on social media, further spreading the controversy. Chinese fans also expressed their anger towards both the organizers and the agency, stating, "It's ridiculous to ruin a meeting after ten years," and, "They should have considered the actor's health first."
As the controversy heightened, the agency expressed, "We deeply regret the unexpected situations that occurred during the event," and stated, "We will work closely with the relevant parties to prepare for better meetings in the future following this experience." They also added, "Most importantly, we hope the sincerity of the artist and fans who did their best in the given situation does not lose its significance," bowing their heads.
However, fans' reactions remain cold. Voices continue to say, "This is not something that can end with just an apology," and, "We hope the same thing doesn't happen again in the future," indicating that the controversy is unlikely to die down easily.
