Former national speed skating representative Lee Sang-hwa expressed her deep love for Kangnam.
In the episode of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' that aired on the 3rd, the couple Kangnam and Lee Sang-hwa, who have been married for seven years, appeared. Everyone was surprised by their unexpected combination at the time of their dating and marriage announcement, but it was acknowledged that they are a well-matched couple due to Kangnam's unique way of true love and Lee Sang-hwa's quiet expression of affection.
However, Kangnam shocked everyone by revealing various episodes, such as repainting Lee Sang-hwa's cherished vehicle and secretly eating ramen to annoy her, through his YouTube channel. This playful Kangnam noted, "It would be fun to do something like that, and I thought our subscribers would enjoy it too. I thought subscribers are people who share similar thoughts with me. If I do something extreme like this, Sang-hwa might get very upset, but conversely, might not get angry at all," while apologizing that all his thoughts were wrong.
However, Lee Sang-hwa indicated her extreme reluctance about eating ramen, saying, "I told him in advance. After filming, I asked him not to do anything because I would be tired. Since our house has a loft, the smell of food rises strongly from downstairs, and I became aware of it."
The couple faced objections before their marriage. Kangnam's mother expressed that Lee Sang-hwa was not a good match for Kangnam. Kangnam recounted, "My mother told Sang-hwa, 'Kangnam is very playful, so marrying him will be difficult,' and 'You are a national representative, so why are you dating someone like our son?'" In a word, it seemed that she thought Lee Sang-hwa was too good for him. Lee Sang-hwa mentioned, "She really took me aside and said, 'Why are you dating someone like Kangnam? A person like you, who has brought glory to the country, shouldn't be with someone like our son.'"
Nevertheless, the couple is living well for each other with their own love. In particular, Kangnam prepared various things, such as obtaining a sports massage certification and planning trips for Lee Sang-hwa, who retired due to a knee injury.
Lee Sang-hwa recalled, "When I retired, I felt somewhat regretful. I had skated since elementary school, and I thought that if only my knee hadn't hurt, I could have continued. I had regrets about that." Despite the pain, she still had the passion to train and return to the ice.
Kangnam expressed concern, saying, "Lee Sang-hwa was really struggling at the time of her retirement. Not only her knee but also she had severe ankle pain." Yoo Jae-suk asked, "I heard Kangnam wanted to give her his knee." To this, Kangnam playfully remarked, "If I could give her my knee and she could work hard to bring glory to the country while I rest at home, that would be ideal," but then worried again by adding, "However, I keep hearing sounds from the cartilage in my knee."
Lee Sang-hwa said, "After skating for 20 years, I felt empty upon retiring. It seems Kangnam felt sorry for me. So he plans trips for me and tells me, 'You can still do a lot of fun things in the future, so enjoy your life.'" She indicated that Kangnam is someone who cares about the rest of her life.
Rather, Kangnam stated, "Regardless, I wanted to show that Lee Sang-hwa could live happily in the future. So I did what I could," adding, "Since we got married, taking walks with Sang-hwa and the dogs is happiness. I learned that being close is more enjoyable than earning money, driving a nice car, or traveling, and that realization comes from Sang-hwa."
