The burglar who broke into comedian Park Na-rae's home and stole property has been sentenced to prison.
On the 3rd, a representative from Park Na-rae's side announced to OSEN, "The burglar who broke into Park Na-rae's house has been sentenced to 2 years in prison."
On the morning of that day, the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 1 (Director General Park Ji-won) held a sentencing hearing for a man in his 30s, referred to as Mr. A, who was charged with burglary and nighttime residence invasion. Mr. A is accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on April 4th and stealing property worth millions of won, then fleeing. He later disposed of the stolen items.
Mr. A was also caught for committing burglary at another house in Yongsan-gu at the end of March. The court noted that "the defendant recognized the charges, expressed his willingness to confess to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, and considered the return of the stolen items to the victim," but also pointed out, "the defendant has a prior record for similar offenses, committed crimes during probation, the stolen items in this case were quite expensive, and the victim is requesting severe punishment."
The court also imposed fines of 2 million won and 3 million won on B and C, respectively, who were indicted for receiving the stolen property from Mr. A.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae revealed the full story of the theft incident through a video on her 'Narae Style' channel, released in May. She said, "Kim Ji-min suggested that we do a wedding shoot with comedian friends ahead of her marriage, so we were preparing for it," adding, "I realized something was missing when I was looking for the most expensive bag I had, which I had placed inside for use as a shooting prop."
After receiving advice from a close sister, she searched on a secondhand luxury goods transaction platform and discovered a bag identical to the stolen one. She said, "Thanks to Kim Ji-min's wedding preparations, I realized the theft quickly and, as a result, was able to retrieve all my belongings." She also mentioned on the radio in July, "The criminal has been caught, and I got back all the items that were stolen," explaining, "I went to all the secondhand luxury shops in Gangnam. It went around in circles and eventually came back to my hands."
