Singer Kim Da-hyun's older sister Kim Do-hyun has changed her name to Jin So-ri and announced her solo trot singer activities.
Jin So-ri, along with her sister Kim Da-hyun, is known to have debuted as a singer by releasing the song "Gyeongsanhanne" at the summit of Hallasan Mountain, becoming active as the "Cheonghakdong Gugak Sisters."
Starting from the age of 4, she studied pansori and traditional Korean studies under her father, Kim Bong-gon, a master, and progressed to the National Traditional Arts Middle and High School to learn pansori. Currently, she is a versatile vocalist who has been active as the main vocalist of a girl group for five years while majoring in pansori at Dongguk University.
Jin So-ri, who is preparing to release her first regular album "Uhwa" (羽化), noted, "After studying pansori for 15 years and performing on numerous stages, I wanted to find the true sound and share it with many people," expressing the meaning of her name change. The new album includes a total of 12 songs, including the title track "Sulsul Pulline."
Jin So-ri's father, Kim Bong-gon, has directly planned and produced the new album "Uhwa," showing his exceptional love for his daughter. He explained, "This first regular album consists of various genres of songs that capture deep emotions with Jin So-ri's clear and pure voice, imbued with her unique sorrowful timbre."
Recalling memories of his daughter, who worked hard to achieve her dreams at a young age while living in a dormitory in Seoul during middle and high school, he stated, "I am very grateful that she has grown well on her own, and as a parent, I also feel much regret."
He added, "Our family, including Da-hyun, has put in a lot of effort and support for Jin So-ri's first regular album production and release. Although there is still a lot to improve, I ask for much support and love for singer Jin So-ri in the future," honestly revealing his feelings as a father.
The album title "Uhwa" (羽化) carries the meaning of "the pupa developing wings to become an adult," raising expectations for Jin So-ri, who has actively crossed over between traditional music and K-POP, to gain new wings through trot.
