On the 3rd, a representative from Jun Ji-hyun's side stated to OSEN, "It is true that actress Jun Ji-hyun received an invitation from the 'Koreans' production team. However, it is not confirmed that she will grant the role."
He explained, "Jun Ji-hyun's next project has not been decided aside from 'Gunche.' For now, 'Koreans' is still under review along with other works she has been proposed."
'Koreans' (working title) is known to be a spy drama adapted from the popular American FX series 'Americans,' set against a backdrop of Korea. While the original dealt with the Cold War era in the 1980s, the Korean version is expected to present variations set during the military dictatorship period.
In particular, 'Koreans' is a work in which actor Lee Byung-hun has been considered for the male lead ahead of Jun Ji-hyun. Produced by Studio AA and directed by Ahn Gil-ho, known for his work on 'Secret Forest' and 'The Glory,' it is reported that discussions are ongoing to position it for global OTT distribution.
