Participant Lyn, who was active in last season's "2025 Korean-Japanese King of Singers Competition," captured attention by frankly expressing her thoughts on the competition format.
On the afternoon of 2nd, MBN's "2025 Korean-Japanese King of Singers Competition" aired its first broadcast.
MC Shin Dong-yup mentioned last season's victory of the Korean team, and Lyn, who joined as a judge, said, "Last year, we barely won," conveying the intense circumstances at that time. In addition, singer Daesung noted, "It's uplifting to see cultural exchanges occur through music between Korea and Japan."
This season's "Korean-Japanese King of Singers Competition" will be held in a best of three format, with Shin Dong-yup emphasizing, "It has changed completely from last year." Prior to the main competition, there will be a qualifying round called the 'Rank Exploration Match,' where the top 7 participants from both Korea and Japan will face off against each other based on their rankings.
Lyn empathized with the participants' feelings regarding the new rules by saying, "I think I would feel very upset if I lose." Daesung also added with a laugh, "When we play amongst ourselves, it hurts our pride to fall behind." The evaluation of the Rank Exploration Match will be decided solely by votes from the Korean and Japanese public judging panel, not by celebrity judges.
Meanwhile, Seol Woon-do expressed concern over the fact that the average age of the Japanese team is 28.1 years, which is much younger than the Korean team, heightening the expectations for the youthful vigor of the Japanese team's performance.
