'Reborn: Chaebol Bride's Payback', newly produced and presented by New Universe, is a short form drama launched on the 21st of last month about a protagonist who unfairly dies after being betrayed by her fiancée and seeks revenge after being reborn, fitting into the rebirth/revenge/melodrama genre of K-short form dramas.
According to New Universe, 'Reborn: Chaebol Bride's Payback' ranked 8th in the global short form drama weekly ranking announced by research agency Guangdada just three days after its launch, signaling a smooth start, and it took first place in the Korean regional weekly ranking (August 25-31) of the global short form drama ranking Juchacha.
While New Universe's representative work 'Goodbye, My Brothers' continues to receive steady love, the new work is also garnering significant attention, achieving the feat of filling the 1st and 2nd places in the Korean regional short form drama ranking of Juchacha with works produced by New Universe.
This is being evaluated as an anomaly in the existing short form drama industry, which was mostly dominated by Chinese or American productions, marking the first case of K-short form dramas standing out in the global market. Consequently, there are rumors that global platforms are showering production company New Universe with love calls, recognizing its production capacity and planning skills.
New Universe is currently in the process of producing about 20 short form dramas this year alone, with the drama starring actress Hong Soo-hyun set to be released this month through the global platform GoodShort.
