The comeback of the group MONSTA X is drawing attention from foreign media.
Since the release of MONSTA X's new mini album 'THE X' (Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon, IM) on the 1st, overseas major media outlets have been praising it.
The American music magazine Rolling Stone published an interview article with MONSTA X on the 1st (local time), stating that "'THE X' is a love letter to MONBEBE (the official fan club name) and a work that reflects MONSTA X's unique musical color." It also noted, "The members participated in the lyrics, composition, and arrangement, and all took part in song selection, showing their growth as artists." Regarding the title track 'N the Front', it said, "It is a chaotic yet melodic rap song, characterized by strong percussion, and it seems appealing to various generations."
Additionally, IM explained in the interview, "Each track was worked on with a clear vision. The song 'Savior' was perfect for the vocal members." Rolling Stone commented that "this vision is one of the reasons why MONSTA X has been able to stand out for a long time in a fierce and challenging industry" and added, "The members are focused on creating a legacy they can be proud of rather than commercial success."
The American economic magazine Forbes reflected on MONSTA X's journey, highlighting that since their debut in 2015, they have "established themselves as icons in the Korean music scene." It further praised MONSTA X for challenging various languages and genres through Korean, Japanese, and English albums, experimenting with a wide musical spectrum, including EDM, Latin, R&B, pop, and future bass.
In relation to this, Jooheon emphasized in an interview with Forbes, "Our music has a wide spectrum. 'THE X' shows that vocals can rap and rappers can sing, expressing the confidence that 'we can do anything.'"
As the global enthusiasm for the new album 'THE X' and the full-group comeback continues, MONSTA X also delivered exciting news to fans through Audacy, one of the largest radio networks in the U.S. Kihyun raised expectations about future activities by saying, "I want to release another English album in the future. This is actually the first time I'm saying this, but it is in our plans."
MONSTA X released their new mini album 'THE X' on the 1st. They will kick off their full comeback activities starting with Mnet's 'M Countdown' on the 4th.
