Member Jung Won-gwan of the group SOS announced the behind-the-scenes story of producing a 13-member girl group.
On the 2nd, actor Song Seung-hwan's YouTube channel 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life' released a content titled 'Singer Jung Won-gwan Episode 1 (The Original of Korean Idol! SOS Jung Won-gwan!)'.
First, Song Seung-hwan noted, 'The person we are introducing today is always close by, so I tend to forget his presence. He is indeed a remarkable person. The first idol in Korea, you could say he is a legendary figure of that idol group. I have come to know this legend in a humorous way, and only today have I invited him.'
Jung Won-gwan said, 'I came here inadvertently. It's strange, I got hooked. I heard last year that there was going to be a program,' revealing that he is the youngest grant receiver among the past participants of 'Wonderful Life'.
Song Seung-hwan mentioned about Jung Won-gwan, saying, 'Although he is active as a businessman and record producer, people still think Jung Won-gwan is SOS.'
Regarding this, Jung Won-gwan said, 'I am grateful. I am really thankful but, personally, I have made a great effort to erase my identity. It hasn't been easy.' He added, 'I just said I wanted to erase it, but I don't necessarily have to force myself to do so. I have truly been loved, and I have lived well without any issues because I have been cherished for a little over 50 years.'
Jung Won-gwan remarked on having been in the entertainment business for a long time, saying, 'After SOS, I worked with NRG, Cho PD, Park Hwa-yo-bi, and Kim Jo-han. I also produced a 13-member girl group called i-13.'
Jung Won-gwan explained, 'i-13 is made up of 13 members. This was two years before Girls' Generation debuted under Lee Soo-man. At that time, those kids were the children of the dance instructors from when I appeared on 'Bbo Bbo Bbo'. It seemed interesting to work with them, so I trained them for a long time.' He added, 'This was in the early 2000s. Those kids were in 2nd and 3rd grade, and now they are sending wedding invitations.'
Jung Won-gwan candidly stated, 'It didn't necessarily become a hit, but it was very fun. I really thought Soo-man was amazing. At that time, SM was such a big company and was well-organized. I felt that I lacked attention to detail and professionalism. I thought Soo-man really was great.'
