Singer Choi Soo-ho appeared in the 'Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition.'
Choi Soo-ho, who participated in the MBN entertainment program '2025 Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition,' which aired on the afternoon of 2nd, won against the Japanese team, perfectly proving the worth of the 'Trot trend.'
The 'Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition' is the only international music competition where the top 7 'King of Singers' from Korea and the top 7 'King of Singers Japan' represent their countries and engage in a battle of pride. This season is particularly meaningful as it is planned for the special year marking the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations, extending beyond a simple music competition to a cultural exchange and a battle of national pride.
Before the main competition, in the preliminary ranking search, Choi Soo-ho faced Kimoto Shinnosuke, the youngest from Korea and Japan. Before taking the stage, he expressed his determination, saying, "I will protect the victory of Korea," and then showed his confidence by stating, "I will attack first," evoking enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
Choosing Goo Chang-mo's 'Wandering,' Choi Soo-ho overwhelmed the stage from the beginning with a solid voice that pierced through the grand band sound. He also showcased a dance that perfectly matched with the dancers, heating the atmosphere not only on stage but also in the living rooms.
Despite the intense choreography, Choi Soo-ho delivered a flawless live performance that amazed the Korea-Japan TOP7 and the judges. During a break in the song, he presented a powerful dance break under a dazzling laser light show, completing a rich stage that delighted both the eyes and ears, generating an explosive applause and cheers.
Japanese national singer Matsuzaki Shigeru, who served as a judge, praised him, saying, "I properly saw Choi Soo-ho's masculine charm. It felt like watching Kondo Masahiko during his debut." The living legend of the Japanese music scene, Kondo Masahiko, noted, "I couldn't sing and dance like that, but it reminds me of my debut, when I sang with vigor," pouring accolades on Choi Soo-ho's passionate performance.
According to the voting results from the Korea-Japan national judging panel, Choi Soo-ho achieved a decisive victory against Kimoto Shinnosuke with a score difference of 72 to 28.
