Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, and other actors of the movie 'No Other Choice' revealed their affection for the work.
On the 2nd, the team behind the film 'No Other Choice' (directed by Park Chan-wook, provided/distributed by CJ ENM, produced by Moho Film/CJ ENM Studios) released an actors' cut video.
'No Other Choice' captures the story of Mansoo (Lee Byung-hun), a company employee who felt that life was so satisfying that he had 'achieved it all,' but after being abruptly fired, he prepares for his own war to defend his wife and two children and the home he worked hard to provide. The recently released actors' cut video features Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won, expressing their affection for their characters and sharing their thoughts on collaborating with director Park Chan-wook.
First, Lee Byung-hun noted, "The character 'Yoo Mansoo' is the image of a typical father we often see. I tried to act while being mindful of how to present the extreme situations to the audience convincingly," adding to the curiosity about Mansoo, who has begun his own war. Son Ye-jin described 'Miri' as "a very optimistic character who never loses her smile," elevating the curiosity about a character completed with delicate expressiveness.
Park Hee-soon shared that 'Seon-chul' is "a character with many internal conflicts regarding what he loves. So, maintaining balance was key," while Lee Sung-min remarked about 'Beom-mo,' "He is someone who worked his entire life in a building materials company. It was a burden to express an ordinary, typical character through the lens of director Park Chan-wook," heightening expectations for the actors' performances that add depth to the characters.
Yeom Hye-ran, who plays 'Ara,' stated, "This is a new character I haven't acted as before. She is free-spirited and true to her instincts," while Cha Seung-won, portraying 'Sijo,' expressed, "He is a typical father who does his best in his work," foreshadowing the synergy among the diverse characters. Lastly, Lee Byung-hun conveyed, "I always discussed many new ideas with the director while shooting," sharing his collaboration with director Park Chan-wook. The actors' cut video containing behind-the-scenes stories from the film 'No Other Choice' is expected to bring a fresh breeze to theaters this autumn with the actors' brilliant performances, set to release on the 24th.
