In 'The Mantis: Original Sin,' Ko Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon play a serial killer mother and her detective son.
Scheduled to air on the 5th at 9:50 p.m., the SBS new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Mantis: Original Sin' (written by Lee Young-jong, directed by Byeon Young-joo) is a high-density crime thriller about mimic crimes occurring over 20 years after the capture of the brutal serial killer 'The Mantis,' forcing a detective to work unexpectedly with his mother, whom he has hated his entire life.
'The Mantis: Original Sin' is expected to provide viewers with a heart-stopping tension and a weighty message through its protagonists' unprecedented relationship of a serial killer mother and her detective son. For this, Ko Hyun-jung (playing Jeong Yi-shin) and Jang Dong-yoon (playing Cha Soo-yeol) have joined forces.
Ko Hyun-jung praised Jang Dong-yoon, saying, "He is an actor with a burning passion and sincerity for acting, and I think that is his charm. It seems that the term 'appropriate compromise' doesn't exist in Jang Dong-yoon's dictionary. His effort to make the best out of each scene is vividly remembered. I felt that it was because it was Jang Dong-yoon that the role of Cha Soo-yeol could be perfectly portrayed as we stacked our breath together on set. I expected her performance while feeling nervous and coordinating our breaths, and I was really surprised by the explosive energy that occasionally burst forth. Even when she acted with a relaxed approach, it was brilliant and overwhelming. Watching from the side, I found myself wanting to emulate her a lot."
In the drama, Ko Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon had to portray tumultuous emotional lines filled with suspicion and anger, hatred and resemblance, opposition and cooperation, as if they were on a rollercoaster.
