Actor Choi Jong-nam personally felt the romance of the film festival held by the sea.
From the 30th to the 31st of last month, Choi Jong-nam, who served as the organizing committee member for the 2nd 'Samcheok Haerang Film Festival', visited the site and had meaningful experiences by participating in the festival's programs alongside filmmakers and audiences.
The film festival, themed 'TIME TO SEA:NEMA - Deep Blue Sea, Waves of Film', which opened at Samcheok Beach on the 30th, began with a blue carpet runway, followed by guests' hand printing, congratulatory performances by Yang Dong-geun and the band Kookas-ten, screenings of short films advancing to the finals, dialogues with the audience, awards ceremonies, and more.
Choi Jong-nam, who attended the blue carpet runway, participated in the hand printing event with director Im Kwon-taek and had a meaningful time with the master director who visited the 'Samcheok Haerang Film Festival.' During the festival, a special exhibition of director Im Won-taek was held at the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall.
Choi Jong-nam said, "It is an immense honor for the great director Im Kwon-taek, a giant in Korean film history, to visit the festival, and his hand printing will remain a part of Samcheok's cultural history."
Before the closing ceremony, Choi Jong-nam had a meaningful meeting with actor Shin Hyun-joon, the festival's organizing committee chair. He took the stage as a special guest during a dialogue with the audience involving Shin Hyun-joon, recalling memories from the filming of the movie 'Thunderstruck Cop' and drawing responses from the audience.
Choi Jong-nam expressed, "As an organizing committee member of the 'Samcheok Haerang Film Festival', I hoped it would be an opportunity to showcase the various charms, fun, and emotional depth of Korean cinema, and I would like to thank Mayor Park Sang-soo of Samcheok, the city officials, organizing committee chair Shin Hyun-joon, director Lee Young-guk, and judge Kim Sung-ryong for creating this wonderful and meaningful film festival."
He added, "Through the passion for artistic creation among filmmakers and the soulful performances of the actors, I hope that everyone can leave with the refreshing romance of midsummer that harmonizes with the blue sea of Samcheok Beach."
