Amid rising expectations for the easing of the Korean Wave Ban (Hanhanryeong), KBS2 is set to launch a new travel variety program with Xiamen, China, as its backdrop. Recently, singer DinDin revealed that celebrities have no concept of currency value, making this program noteworthy as the entertainers will have to solve everything with a limited budget.
"Joint Travel Expense Zone," which will premiere on the 4th at 9:50 p.m. on KBS2, is a money game travel reality show featuring six individuals: Kim Gu-ra, Kim Tae-kyun, Kim Dong-jun, Kim Seung-jin, Lee Seok-ki, and Baek Ho, embarking on their journey in Xiamen, China. The cast will use a joint travel budget of 1 million won per day, solving all travel elements such as accommodation, meals, and sightseeing within a limited budget, making the fierce awareness and brain battles among the participants a focal point of interest.
The first travel destination of "Joint Travel Expense Zone" is the beautiful coastal city of Xiamen, known as the Hawaii of China, which is expected to serve as a new starting point for expanding cultural exchanges between Korea and China, coinciding with the recent atmosphere of improving Korea-China relations.
The production crew stated, "We will present a new format that goes beyond a simple travel program, simultaneously addressing the economic consciousness of participants and the relationships centered on public good and individual benefit that occur abroad." They added, "We aim to capture the vivid local scenes of China along with the genuine reactions of the participants."
No Joo-hee, CP of KBS Production Planning Department, noted, "As expectations for the easing of the Korean Wave Ban rise, we hope that presenting a variety program set in China will serve as a signal for expanding future content exchanges."
"Joint Travel Expense Zone" will begin airing for the first time on September 4th and will be broadcast every Thursday at 9:50 p.m. on KBS2.
