Actor Hong Soo-hyun beautifully wrapped up the Channel A weekend drama 'My lovely journey'.
Hong Soo-hyun played the role of 'Yoo Ha-na', the finance director of Ogu Entertainment, in the Channel A weekend drama 'My lovely journey' (planned by Channel A, directed by Kang Sol, written by Jeong Hoe-hyun, produced by Big Ocean ENM), showcasing her unique charisma. Yoo Ha-na, who is summer and a colleague from her entry into the company, is a straightforward 'fact bombardment enthusiast,' but underneath she is a character with deep affection for her colleagues. Her sincere portrayal, emphasizing common sense and loyalty while protecting the company for 10 years, resonated with viewers as a realistic and charming attraction.
From her charismatic aspects to her human side, she perfectly embodied a diverse charm in her own style, and particularly, Hong Soo-hyun's delicate emotional expressions and cheerful energy breathed life into the drama.
Just as 'Yoo Ha-na' in the work cared for her colleagues with warm consideration, Hong Soo-hyun also reportedly built genuine friendships with her fellow actors on set, living as 'the real Yoo Ha-na.' In response, Hong Soo-hyun shared her thoughts on 'My lovely journey' through her agency FN Entertainment to repay the love she received.
[Below is the full Q&A with actor Hong Soo-hyun]
Q. The Channel A weekend drama 'My lovely journey' has come to an end. Please share your thoughts on the conclusion.
I still can't believe it. The times I met with the viewers as Yoo Ha-na every weekend felt like a dream. Even after the last shooting, I was still living my daily life with Yoo Ha-na's mindset. I was truly happy to be able to be part of such a wonderful work and with such great people.
Q. You portrayed the character 'Yoo Ha-na', the finance director of Ogu Entertainment in the drama. What kind of person do you think 'Yoo Ha-na' is? Were there any aspects you focused on while acting?
Yoo Ha-na... is truly a person with a pure soul. Although she holds a somewhat rigid position as the finance director and comes off tough with her fact bombardment, her heart is warmer than anyone else's and full of a desire to take care of people. I concentrated most on expressing her 'sincerity.'
Even without words, I hoped that my warmth could be conveyed through eye contact or small actions... I wanted the viewers to feel Yoo Ha-na's unique warmth. If there's a similarity with myself, I think I share her desire to care for others. However, I believe I express it a bit more than Yoo Ha-na. (laughs)
Q. Is there a scene you particularly cherish while filming?
The scene where I made porridge alone at home for CEO Sang-sik, who was unwell in episode 7, is the most memorable. At that moment, Yoo Ha-na's feelings were really... complicated. I was worried but also angry, and expressing that love-hate feeling... while she grumbles, 'What kind of flower youth is this? Why drink so much?' she ends up making the porridge with great care... At that moment, I felt like my heart turned into both Yoo Ha-na and Ha-na.
And later, in episode 8, the scene where I was talking about preferences with CEO Yang and CEO Sang-sik as well. The moment Ha-na asks CEO Yang, 'Why doesn't someone who knows him so well catch CEO Oh?' and feels emotional... her feelings for CEO Sang-sik unintentionally spilling out was just too beautiful and painful.
Q. What was the atmosphere like on set? How was the chemistry with your fellow actors?
It was truly a family-like setting. Not just the actors, but also the director and writer... After filming, we often shared personal moments and got to know each other better. This led to the relationships in the work naturally carrying over into reality.
The set was a place one looked forward to. Each morning I woke up filled with the excitement of 'what kind of day will I live as Ha-na today?' I believe such a set is really uncommon.
Q. How do you hope the character 'Yoo Ha-na' will be remembered by viewers?
I hope people will remember the bright and warm side that Ha-na showed. If during tough times, they think of Ha-na's smile and consider, 'I want to be a warm person to someone too,' then... I think that alone gives meaning to Ha-na's existence. I hope she remains a character that conveys how precious small acts of consideration and sincerity can be.
Q. Are there any genres or characters you would like to challenge in the future?
I want to challenge doing overseas work as well. And... I really want to play a spy role! I would like to show the viewers a new side as a strong and charismatic character, which is the complete opposite of Ha-na. I want to become an actor with more diverse colors.
Q. Please give your last remarks to the viewers who loved 'My lovely journey.'
Thank you so much. Thanks to you all for waiting for Ha-na every week and loving her, I was able to grow another step as an actor. This journey I shared with the viewers was the warmest and most precious time in my life.
I will be looking forward to meeting you all with better works and deeper acting in the future. Although the journey has ended, our relationship will continue. Thank you for your love!
