Dongbang Shin Ki's Yunho talked about moments when he becomes overly immersed.
On the morning of 2nd, a press conference for TV Chosun's new variety show 'My Way - Over Immersion Club' took place at TV Chosun's Gasan Studio in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. The conference included Tak Jae-hoon, Chae Jung-an, Yunho, Lee Teuk, Mimi Minoo, and PD Kim Hana, who discussed the show.
'My Way - Over Immersion Club' is a reality show that observes the daily lives of people who are immersed in certain subjects. Tak Jae-hoon, Chae Jung-an, Yunho, Lee Teuk, and Mimi Minoo will join as MCs to reveal moments of over-immersion in everyday life.
On this day, when asked about the reason for appearing on this program, Yunho said, "What first sparked my interest was the slogan. It says that everyone is somewhat crazy, and just because someone is different doesn't mean they are wrong. I believe everyone has their own values they pursue. I think there hasn't been a reality show that observes that candidly. Sometimes, people may seem different from others, but that aspect can be attractive, so I thought to start this. Secondly, seeing Tak Jae-hoon hyung made me think differently for the first time. I jokingly thought, 'Isn't he someone who's different from me?' But as I filmed more, I started to feel his charm; he is pure, and we can be alike, with many things to learn from him. I am confident that this program can break all the value systems I know."
He continued, regarding his recent over-immersion, "Originally, it was related to the stage. I had a lot of interest in lighting and production. I thought about how to make clips come out better. If it could help SM, then great. Now, I'm trying to learn a lot through regular people's vlogs and lives. To me, the lives of ordinary people felt like those of celebrities. There are things that others can do easily which I can't, so I wanted to experience traveling, information, and talk about those experiences, and I've become fascinated with that. You could say it's rebranding for me." He added, "I'm also into acting. I think I've shown everything I can as an idol for 20 years. I'm studying the parts about ordinary people, and by showing what I can't do, I hope we can find a good compromise together."
In particular, Chae Jung-an mentioned seeing Yunho's immersed life, stating, "I think one of the important aspects of life is balance. Watching Yunho's intense video made me wish he could take a little break." Tak Jae-hoon joked, "I was out of breath and exhausted. I thought to myself, 'I shouldn't live like that.'"
Then Yunho remarked, "I got captivated by something new and worked hard on it," and added, "I didn't recognize myself either. Did I really act like that? That's also me. I felt the various charms that exist in different people. There's a dynamic between family members that I find warm. I think about the relationships among people in each episode. I believe that the unique relationship perspective in 'My Way' will evoke a variety of emotions, setting it apart from other observational reality shows."
When asked whether he ever gets tired of his over-immersed lifestyle, he responded, "I know I seem passionate about everything, but I'm human too. I have a lot of passion for things I like, but I show no interest in things I dislike. I have ambitions. Although I might not be interested, experiencing something once isn't bad, which is why I may have gone overboard and ended up like this. Of course, there are moments I feel exhausted. If I said there aren't, that would be a lie. But the difference lies in how I interpret those moments. Everyone experiences stress, right? I believe my mental state can dominate my body. If I'm tired, then I'm tired. But I want to try being tired on my own terms."
'My Way - Over Immersion Club' will premiere on the 3rd at 10 p.m.
