A documentary capturing the behind-the-scenes work of the debut album by the 'young creator crew' Cortis (CORTIS) is set to unveil.
The documentary 'What We Want', which will be released on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel on the 1st at 8 p.m., portrays the journey of Cortis (Martin, James, Ju-hoon, Seong-hyeon, and Geon-ho) as they search for 'our own music' while working on their debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES'.
This documentary is centered around a songwriting camp held in Los Angeles, California. It showcases the struggles of the five members in creating the title song 'What You Want'. Cortis candidly shared during a media showcase held on their debut day, 'We left for a songwriting camp in Los Angeles to work on the title song. Initially, we planned to stay for a month, but the work didn't progress well, so we extended it to three months.' This raises curiosity about the processes the title song, which became 'the face of Cortis', went through to come to life.
There's also the fun of watching Cortis directly co-create music, choreography, and videos. Particularly, it allows viewers to witness the relatively unfamiliar working method of 'co-creation' in a K-pop group. They show not only their impressive creative skills, which are hard to believe given that all of them are teenagers, but also their remarkable ability to express opinions and proactively seize opportunities.
The documentary depicts the process of five members, who come from different backgrounds such as swimming and child modeling, coming together as one team through 'creation' as a common denominator. It realistically records the daily lives of the members over a period of more than a year from April last year to May this year. It will reveal without filter the youthful exuberance and passion, their efforts to find unique music for Cortis, and the trial and error during the debut album creation period.
Meanwhile, Cortis will release their debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES' on the 8th at 6 p.m. and unveil the music video for the follow-up song 'FaSHioN'. A portion of this song's audio was incorporated into the opening of the documentary 'What We Want'.
