The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) is in full swing, starting a 10-day journey while spreading laughter widely.
The 13th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), hereafter referred to as 'BucOp,' kicked off on Aug. 31 (Sunday) with various performances including 'Byung-Ki-Soo's Beach Show,' 'Seoul Comedy All-Stars 1st,' 'King of Communication Malzahalmye Show,' and the overseas performance team 'Strongest Japanese Comedy Show,' significantly elevating audience satisfaction.
The 'Byung-Ki-Soo's Beach Show,' held on the 9th floor cultural hall of Shinsegae Department Store, boldly used profanity-laced sketches to captivate the audience. 'The Language Magician' Byung-Ki-Soo overwhelmed the crowd with his comic makeup and unrestrained wit, while Song Young-Gil garnered cheers with his intense visuals. Notably, the youngest member, Kim Seung-Jin, recorded a high laughter rate, enriching the performance. Along with Taewon Kim and newly joined member Tak from Baechigi's songs and rap, a perfect festival atmosphere was created. The audience laughed throughout the performance, recharging their happiness virus.
The 'King of Communication Malzahalmye Show' featuring Kim Young-Hee and Jeong Beom-Gyun, held at the Busan Citizens' Hall small theater, received a tremendous response from the audience with a stage filled with laughter. Kim Young-Hee, dubbed the best 'King of Communication' in Korea, perfectly transformed into Malzahalmye, engaging in refreshing and intense communication with the audience through post-it note questions reflecting everyday worries about parenting and family. She elevated the atmosphere to its peak with her witty remarks and heartfelt advice, presented in her unique dialect, and just like the saying 'as expected,' the venue became a true feast of laughter. During this performance, which adopted the 'Gag Pay' method of paying as much as one laughs, a remarkable audience member who laughed 1,100 times set a new record for the most laughs in BucOp's history.
The most honest and sophisticated comedy show, the stand-up comedy 'Seoul Comedy All-Stars 1st,' performed by Kim Dong-Ha, Son Dong-Hun, Song Ha-Bin, Kim Ju-Hwan, and Moon Ji-Wan, delivered refined laughter to adult audiences of various ages at the headquarters of Busan Bank. They captivated the audience with nothing but one microphone and their wit, regardless of costumes, sound, or material restrictions, exploding dopamine with their risqué 19+ stand-up comedy. The members heated up the audience by communicating with them on various topics such as religion and romance with well-timed humor.
At KT&G SangSang Madang Busan Live Hall, the 'Strongest Japanese Comedy Show' unfolded over two days. Japan's largest comedy production company Yoshimoto Kogyo's lead comedians Tonikaku, Wes-P, and Ichigawa Koi-Kuchi performed in Korean, directly communicating with the audience for an hour and filling the stage with laughter. Tonikaku appeared wearing only underwear and showcased five nude poses, along with impromptu poses on audience request. Wes-P executed an unimaginable fart performance, while Ichigawa Koi-Kuchi captured attention with an extraordinary tablecloth challenge. Every time the challenge was successful, loud cheers and applause erupted from the audience. Notably, Fuji TV's Sendai Broadcasting came to Busan to interview Tonikaku, drawing attention.
'BucOp' has been offering laughter to countless audiences since its opening on Aug. 29 (Friday), showcasing the essence of K-comedy. The opening performance, along with 'Gag Concert' and 'I Transferred Here to Fall in Love,' among other popular shows, has recorded sell-outs, proving that 'BucOp' is a leading comedy festival. Even in the second week of the opening, a laughter alert is issued, promising to shake Busan to its core.
Meanwhile, a 'Comedy Seminar' will take place at 11 a.m. on the 1st. Additionally, this week, various programs will continue, including theater performances like 'Comedy Store,' 'Seoul Comedy All-Stars 2nd,' Comedy Street, book concerts, 'MICF Roadshow in Busan,' and open concerts, with the 13th 'BucOp' running until the 7th across Busan.
