Actress Park Min-young shared her feelings about appearing in "Confidence Man KR."
On the 1st, a production presentation for the new weekend mini-series "Confidence Man KR" (written by Hong Seung-hyeon, directed by Nam Ki-hoon) was held at the Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Mapo District, Seoul.
"Confidence Man KR" is a caper drama in which three talented con artists seek revenge on the villains of our time. The thrilling storyline cleverly navigates the flaws of the social system and heralds the birth of a "K-caper" that joyfully twists the grammar of existing crime genres. Since the original "Confidence Man JP" was also released as a film in Japan and broadcast as a part of Fuji Television's 60th anniversary special project, interest is growing in whether this Korean remake can lead box office success.
Director Nam Ki-hoon, who has shown explosive directing skills in significant genre works such as "Casino," "Kiss Sixth Sense," "Oh My Baby," and "Voice 3," teamed up with writer Hong Seung-hyeon, known for his stylish writing in "Criminal Minds" and "Cheo Yong 1, 2."
Park Min-young, who has firmly established herself as the "rom-com queen" through works like "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim," "People of the Korea Meteorological Administration: The Brutal History of Office Romance," and "Marry My Husband," will play the role of Yoo In-rang, a con artist leader with an IQ of 165 and a genius brain in the top 1%. She transforms into a bold character as a con artist in a "caper" and aims to set a new personal best.
Park Min-young said, "I pose as a leader among the con artists, coming up with plans and assigning roles based on my high IQ. There's a sociopathic feel, but if there's an actor with a deep inner story, it's a role I desire. It was challenging to transform, but I filmed diligently."
Park Min-young, who made her comeback after about 1 year and 6 months since "Marry My Husband," added, "No one can predict box office success. This is my first project with Amazon Prime, and it's an opportunity I can't miss. I wanted each actor to have lively and vibrant roles, but this time, I will act more dynamically and proactively. If my character was passive in 'My Husband,' I was attracted to how I get to return the favor this time."
The new weekend mini-series "Confidence Man KR" will premiere on the 6th at 9:10 p.m. and will be simultaneously released on Coupang Play.
