Yoo Jae-suk expressed his embarrassment after receiving a request to officiate Kim Jong-kook's wedding about two weeks before the ceremony.
On the 31st, SBS's 'Running Man' featured actors Jang Dong-yoon and Kim Ah-young as guests and they participated in a couple race together.
Coincidentally, the recording date for this episode was the same day, the 18th, that Kim Jong-kook's wedding article was published. Before the announcement of his marriage, Kim Jong-kook belatedly informed the members he met at the filming location about his wedding.
Ji Suk-jin asked Kim Jong-kook, "Isn't it a bit awkward if you don't come to the wedding?" to which Kim Jong-kook replied, "Who is getting married?" When he answered, "It's me," Ji Suk-jin showed disbelief, saying, "Are you getting married? What concept are you using for YouTube? You are the bride, right? You aren't going with that kind of concept, are you?"
Afterward, to open the show, the members gathered in front of the camera, and Yoo Jae-suk said to Ji Suk-jin, who still couldn't believe Kim Jong-kook's marriage, "Why does your expression look like that? It's real. They're publishing an article today." Haha also seemed flustered, only managing a nervous laugh, while Song Ji-hyo expressed her joy, saying, "I'm touched, though." Ji Suk-jin commented, "I still can't believe it," and Kim Jong-kook attempted to change the atmosphere, saying, "Okay, let's move on!"
Yoo Jae-suk said, "It's not 'okay,' why would it be okay?" and Ji Ye-eun, who had not heard, responded, "Why didn't you tell me?" expressing her disappointment. Yang Se-chan also stated, "That's shocking," and Song Ji-hyo smiled as she said, "I was just saving the (wedding date). I was so happy." Upon hearing this, Ji Ye-eun was surprised, saying, "Are you getting married?!" Yoo Jae-suk revealed, "I thought it was a joke just now."
Kim Jong-kook confirmed, "It has happened. I will be getting married," and stated, "I will now be getting married. I will live happily and diligently."
Ji Suk-jin remarked, "Half the people don't even know, right?" and Yoo Jae-suk responded, "I just found out today," adding, "On that day (wedding day), I also have filming. Jong-kook is having a 30th anniversary concert this year. So, I thought he was doing something for the 30th anniversary concert. He asked me to officiate. I said, 'Isn't there filming that day?' but it turned out he was really getting married," expressing his surprise.
Despite this, Yoo Jae-suk promised to attend, saying, "I will reschedule the filming somehow to attend. It has to be Jong-kook's wedding," emphasizing, "I will also officiate with grace, so don't worry." Haha also explained, "I have to find a way to go, too."
Even after that, the members struggled to concentrate on filming, and Yoo Jae-suk shared, "But I really thought this morning that it was a joke. Seeing the camera like this, I thought it was for the 30th anniversary concert video," while he remarked, "That guy really has a heavy mouth," sticking out his tongue.
Especially after finishing the first race and moving to the next location, Ji Ye-eun revealed, "I heard you sent a handwritten letter and that it was reported. Senior Jong-kook wrote a handwritten letter, right?" Yoo Jae-suk confessed, "Wow, receiving a request to officiate a wedding so urgently is unprecedented," and Haha also mentioned, "That's why my schedule got tangled up with our director. Yet, I have to absolutely go to this one," underscoring his commitment to attend the wedding.
Interestingly, the ending filming location was coincidentally a wedding hall. Yoo Jae-suk, standing at the officiant's spot, asked, "Is today Jong-kook's wedding event?" and practiced the officiant's introduction, saying, "Groom Kim Jong-kook."
Seeing this, Kim Jong-kook pleaded, "Don't do that!" to which Yoo Jae-suk replied, "I'm just practicing. We have to do it in two weeks!" provoking laughter as Kim Jong-kook retorted, "What are you practicing for? You're doing fine already."
Meanwhile, Kim Jong-kook will hold his wedding with a non-celebrity woman on Sept. 5.
