Ok Ja-yeon has concluded the play 'The Effect' to audience acclaim.
On the 31st of last month, Ok Ja-yeon successfully performed the final show of the play 'The Effect' (THE EFFECT) at NOL Seogyeong Square Scone Hall 2, wrapping up around three months of her journey. That day, Ok Ja-yeon expressed her gratitude to the audience after the final performance with a stage greeting.
Ok Ja-yeon, who played the role of Connie, a psychology student in the play 'The Effect', shared her thoughts on the final performance through her agency, Media Lab Shiso. Ok Ja-yeon said, "Connie is a very challenging role that experiences a wide range of emotions as the play progresses. I am thankful to have been able to live as Connie and truly learned a lot from everyone I was with. It was a work that posed questions about human emotions and existence, and I shared many of those concerns with my colleagues. It was a time to learn what love is. I feel I have become a stronger actress and person."
The play 'The Effect' depicts the story of Connie and Tristan, who participate in a clinical test of an antidepressant, along with Dr. Rona James and Toby Silly who supervise the test, exploring love and sorrow. This Korean performance gained significant attention as it was conducted with the world's first gender-bending casting. Ok Ja-yeon immersed herself in the role of Connie, who is confused between unstable relationships and emotions, receiving much acclaim from audiences for her detailed inner acting.
Ok Ja-yeon delicately expressed the emotional line of Connie, who gradually becomes closer to Tristan, a fellow experimenter in a confined space, while portraying the psychology of a character who suspects and is wary that her emotions might be a reaction caused by the medication, providing a strong immersive experience. After the performance, the audience remarked that "the emotions Connie feels were palpable in her voice," "the emotional expressions were delicate," and "she displayed a different charm compared to when seen on TV."
Ok Ja-yeon, who demonstrated profound acting in the play 'The Effect', will continue her vigorous activities in the second half of the year.
