Seo Jang-hoon shed tears at the story of a mother who lost her daughter to terminal stomach cancer.
During the 1st episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,' a contributor appeared, saying he was unable to cope with the loss of his daughter, who was like a friend, three years ago.
On that day, he recalled his relationship with his daughter in life, saying, "We were like friends. We did a lot of new café tours together. Since I divorced early, she gave up on college to help me and immediately got a job."
He continued, "My daughter said she had a stomachache in 2021, so we went to the hospital, and they told us to go to a bigger hospital. After tests, we found out she had terminal stomach cancer. She was so young, only 24 years old. I never thought it would happen. They said she couldn't have surgery, and since it had already metastasized, they only performed chemotherapy. We tried surgery three times, but it was ineffective."
The contributor said, "The hospital said she had ten months, but she fought for exactly a year before passing away," adding, "We got along so well, like friends, and now it feels like I've lost something."
Hearing this, Seo Jang-hoon said, "The reason it's still hard even after three years is because of guilt. I am her mother. Just the fact that I am living after sending off my young daughter must weigh on my heart with guilt." Lee Sugeun also empathized, saying, "Even smiling or being happy must feel like a burden. How can you bury a child in your heart?"
Seo Jang-hoon added, "It's not anyone's fault, right? Who could have known? The most important thing is to consider how your daughter would want you to live. I think she would want you to live happily. You should live with that in mind. Without it, you can't live because of guilt." Lee Sugeun comforted her, saying, "If you're still young and full of life, you should live even more actively for your daughter. Don't hide yourself."
