Health trainer Yang Chi-seung, who closed his gym due to rental fraud damage, urged the National Assembly to submit a petition.
Yang Chi-seung said on the 1st on his social media account, "I have experienced unexpected eviction notices and substantial property damage due to gaps in the operational structure and administration of public facilities. What I learned through this process is that this issue is by no means just my personal matter. Many tenants residing in contributed acceptance public facilities are experiencing threats to their livelihoods as contracts are rendered invalid without proper notice or eviction orders are received."
He continued, "What I learned through this process is that this issue is by no means just my personal matter. Many tenants residing in contributed acceptance public facilities are experiencing threats to their livelihoods as contracts are rendered invalid without proper notice or eviction orders are received. I thought that we must now change such structural problems. Therefore, I submitted a petition to the National Assembly for the amendment of private investment in social infrastructure."
Yang Chi-seung stated, "Tenants using public facilities must be provided with sufficient information in advance and have their rights protected. Your small click will greatly contribute to creating fair and responsible administration. Thank you sincerely."
Earlier, Yang Chi-seung opened a health club in Gangnam District, Seoul, through an introduction from an acquaintance, but after three years of operation, he received an eviction order not from the landlord with whom he entered a lease agreement, but from the Gangnam District Office. It turned out that the building in question was established by the landlord under a 20-year lease agreement with the Gangnam District Office, but this was concealed when entering into a lease contract with tenants, including Yang Chi-seung. Subsequently, it is said that Yang Chi-seung took out a mortgage on his residence to secure 400 million won for the gym's rent, which has drawn sympathy from many.
Despite the fraud damage, Yang Chi-seung has shown goodwill by donating 10 million won for wildfire recovery efforts. However, he left behind a sense of regret as he could not overcome the fraud damage and had to end the gym's operations.
Below is Yang Chi-seung's statement
Hello, this is Yang Chi-seung.
Recently, I experienced
unexpected eviction notices and substantial property damage.
What I learned through this process is that this issue is by no means just my personal matter.
Many tenants residing in contributed acceptance public facilities are experiencing threats to their livelihoods as contracts are rendered invalid without proper notice or eviction orders are received.
It was the reality.
I thought that we must now change such structural problems.
Therefore, I submitted a petition to the National Assembly for the amendment of private investment in social infrastructure.
Tenants using public facilities
must be provided with sufficient information in advance and have their rights protected.
This law must be amended.
In order for this petition to be officially registered in the National Assembly,
according to the National Assembly petition review rules,
first, more than 100 approvals are needed within 30 days from the registration date.
If this requirement is met, the petition will be made public,
and once it receives more than 50,000 approvals within 30 days after being made public, it will be established as an official citizens' petition.
It will then be referred to the National Assembly standing committee.
Your small click will
greatly contribute to creating fair and responsible administration.
