Stray Kids set a historic record on the Billboard 'Billboard 200' chart, the first in its 70-year history, with their new album 'KARMA'.
According to a preview article released by Billboard on Aug. 31, Stray Kids' 4th full album 'KARMA', which was released on the 22nd, sold approximately 313,000 copies in the United States in its first week, debuting at number one on the Billboard 'Billboard 200' for the week of Sept. 6. With this being the group's seventh number one record on the Billboard 'Billboard 200', Stray Kids becomes the first artist in the world to have seven albums debut at number one on the chart since its inception in March 1956.
Stray Kids first topped the Billboard 'Billboard 200' with their 2022 mini-album 'ODDINARY', followed by 'MAXIDENT', '★★★★★ (5-STAR)', '樂-STAR', 'ATE', and SKZHOP HIPTAPE '合 (HOP)'. They achieved this with six consecutive works reaching the highest rankings on the chart. By securing six consecutive number ones on the Billboard 'Billboard 200', Stray Kids became one of the groups that recorded the most number ones in the 2000s, along with BTS, Linkin Park, and the Dave Matthews Band. With 'KARMA', they achieved seven consecutive number ones, leading the category alone.
In particular, Stray Kids also broke their own record for first-week sales in the United States with 'KARMA'. This figure is about 63,500 copies higher than the previous record of 249,500 copies set by their 2023 full album '★★★★★ (5-STAR)', making it the highest first-week sales of a K-pop album in the United States in 2025, and ranking third among all artists, following Morgan Wallen and The Weekend.
Stray Kids also achieved remarkable records on the British Official Chart, one of the world's top three music charts. 'KARMA' debuted at its highest position, 22nd, on the latest 'Official Albums Chart Top 100', while the title track 'CEREMONY' debuted at 37th on the 'Official Singles Chart Top 100'. Additionally, 'KARMA' was selected as number one on the latest top album chart announced by the French National Syndicate of Music Publishers (SNEP), and ranked third on the German Official Top 100 Albums Chart, third on the Netherlands Top 100 Albums Chart, fourth on the ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart in Australia, seventh on the New Zealand Official Aotearoa Top 40 Albums Chart, and ninth on the Lithuanian AGATA Top 100 Albums Chart, showcasing their presence on various overseas music charts.
Stray Kids also celebrated the honor of being nominated for the 'MTV Video Music Awards' (MTV VMA). According to the recent announcement posted on the official social media channel of the MTV VMA, Stray Kids is nominated in the 'Best Group' category. This is the first time Stray Kids has been nominated for 'Best Group', and in the announcement made on the 5th, they were nominated for 'Best K-pop' for the fourth consecutive year with 'Chk Chk Boom', resulting in a total of two nominations at the 2025 MTV VMA.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids dominated the domestic music show's first-place trophy in the last week of August with their comeback title track 'CEREMONY', winning on Mnet 'M Countdown' on the 28th, KBS 2TV 'Music Bank' on the 29th, MBC 'Show! Music Core' on the 30th, and SBS 'Inkigayo' on the 31st, asserting their status as 'K-pop champions'.
